Ren became known among his team for resting in the most unusual places, and sometimes in the oddest ways.
The first few times it happened made Pyrrha worry about where he would disappear to. She feared for his health because of where he would take his naps. Nora had assured her that his sporadic nap schedule was a regular thing for him.
Jaune had found it strange, but a bit entertaining to see him on such occasions. Once when they were heading back to the academy after finishing a mission Ren had taken one of his naps. The boy simply crossed his arms and rested his chin against his chest and fell asleep. When Jaune attempted to record it on his Scroll Ren punched the device out of his hands without even needing to open his eyes.
However today Ren was nowhere to be found.
They split up to check in the areas he usually frequented. Nora went about the campus to see if he fell asleep on one of the many benches scattered about. Pyrrha went through the library, quietly treading and calling out his name and trying not to disturb the atmosphere. Jaune had gone to the cafeteria and asked every student there if they had seen him. All the answers were the same: they hadn't seen him.
Jaune was beginning to panic, thinking that Ren could've ran away because of his bad leadership skills, or that he wasn't a good enough friend. Both Nora and Pyrrha vehemently denied that train of thought, managing to calm him down.
They didn't cease their search until curfew came around and they begrudgingly skulked back to their dorm. Upon opening the door to the room they heard a loud noise, like music, lilting throughout the room to their ears. Looking for the source, their gazes led them towards Ren's bed.
There he was, sitting cross-legged on his mattress and wearing headphones that blared some sort of rock music, all the while he was tapping away swiftly on the screen of his Scroll.
As if he could feel the weight of their stares on him he looked up. After removing his headphones he greeted them casually.
"Hey guys. Where have you all been?"
They all looked at him in disbelief. "Looking for you!" They shouted in unison.
Ren was surprised by the statement.
"Wha- Why?"
"We thought you ran away or got lost, or, or something worse." Nora said.
"Where were you?" Jaune asked.
"Well...I was sitting at a bench for a while and took a nap there, and when I woke up I felt a bit hungry. On my way to the cafeteria I remembered that I needed a file from the library so I stopped by there a moment. However, the librarian had trouble accessing it, so I had to wait a bit longer for that. I took another nap during that time. Once I finally got the file I proceeded to the cafeteria, but I hadn't realized how late it was and it was already closed. Thus I walked back here and started working with the file."
If jaws could drop and touch the ground they would have with how astonished the others were at this information.
"B-But, we searched all of those places." Jaune said.
"And you never answered us when we called out for you." Pyrrha added.
"Oh. That's probably because I had this on." Ren pointed at the headphones resting around his collar.
Jaune and Pyrrha sighed tiredly while Nora blew a raspberry, but they all smiled. They were just glad that he was safely at home.
