Remus Jeremiah Lupin is a man of few words. Not because he does not have
things to say. But rather because he has no one to tell them to, and even
if he did tell someone what he was thinking, they wouldn't listen. No one
listens to a werewolf. Like he's a person? How unthinkable!!
Upon a first look, his haggard appearance does not suggest a man of superior intellect. It's just another assumption against him. Moony is also thin and pale but amazingly strong for his looks. His warm hazel eyes hold wisdom beyond his years and silver streaks tell of years of hard tiring work and strife. He's a generally pensive person, often going of on a trail of thought until someone snaps him back to reality.
But he's not without a sense of humor. He would have never had survived this long without one. But still, smiles and laughs are few and far between for Rem. It simply takes a lot to crack him up and make him drop the solemn façade.
One thing to always keep in mind about Remus Lupin is that he will never stop surprising you. His taste of music and food for example is the polar opposite of what you'd guess. Moony here happens to enjoy tunes of the alternative rock genre and the (in his opinion) delectable tastes of McDonalds and the like. He enjoys extreme snacks like Hot Cheetoes and Acid Pops. Only a few know him well enough to tell of his many eccentricities.
He never wears socks, not even in the coldest weather. He pulls on his hair like a child when he is nervous. And he even has a tattoo that he will not tell the details of. His handwriting never looks the same and he will not write in print unless he absolutely must. Lupin is also dyslectic and confuses the order of numbers and words frequently. The list of oddities goes on. Although he appears to be a strictly strategic and academic thinker, Rem is surprisingly artistic and enjoys writing poetry, drawing, and reading fictional writings.
Moony also has a quite a temper. The only difference between his and Black's is that Rem has learned to control it and keep it in check. But if he slips and lets it loose, Watch out! He can be dangerous in his rage. But for the most part he is a calm and well-mannered individual. He is a great friend too. He is giving and self-less in nature, always the solid one to run to if in need. Great listener and very loyal, Remus is a real pal.
He does have his faults, just like anyone else. He's a moody perfectionist that often puts too much pressure on himself. For someone so bright, he has a tendency to look down on himself and take the things the wrong way. His weak point has got to be his emotional fragileness. Lupin has a history of depression starting at the tender age of 5. But this does not mean he is constantly moping in a pool of self-pity. He has his ups and downs like any normal person. It's just that the downs are more intense and longer lasting than the norm.
Remus comes from a well - respected and pure blood wizard family. He's an only child and was spoiled with his parent's money until they spent it all on bogus lycanthropic cures. His mom was a Slytherin and dad was a Hufflepuff.
There is still much to learn about Lupin, though. Very little is known about the "Mystery Years", or the 12 years or so directly after the Potter's deaths. Actually, nothing is known as a fact. Rumors and speculation are all there is concerning this lost decade and more. We can only imagine what happened in that time ..
