A Muggle Trip
She was starting to get thirsty, so she turned to Draco. "Can we stop
somewhere and get something to drink, I'm dying of thirst!"
"I'm a bit thirsty myself," he admitted. Both Ginny and Draco made their way
to the nearest shop.
They were on holiday in a muggle town. Draco was rather reluctant to go at
first, but after a bit of persuasion, Ginny managed to get him to go.
"Do you have the right money with you?" she asked him, he tended to forget
that he couldn't pay with galleons all the time.
"Yes, I do," he rolled his eyes at her.
Draco was actually really fascinated with the way the shops worked, although
if anyone were to ask him, he would deny it vehemently. He kept on testing
all the things that he could. Particularly amusing were trolleys to him.
Having never really gone shopping previously, he enjoyed taking the trolley
and seeing if he could fit it through spaces that were obviously too small
for it.
"Now behave yourself, we don't want to end up having to pay for a broken
trolley again like last time," she reminded him.
"Hey, that wasn't my fault!"
She glared at him which told him quite clearly that she didn't agree with
him.
Entering the shop, they started to walk to the refrigerators looking for
some chilled drinks. As they were walking, Draco noticed that this shop had
the same "safety measures" that he'd noticed in other shops. Apparently if
you were to try and steal something from the shop and walk past them, they
would emit a beeping sound alerting the staff that someone was attempting to
steal. He'd been dying to test them out, but had had no luck so far because
Ginny was always close by. Seeing that she was standing by the refrigerators
already, he swiftly walked over to a shelf that held some small items.
Grabbing the closest thing nearby, and checking that Ginny was still
occupied, he made his way to the tills and walked past them. As soon as he
did so, they started beeping and a few staff members came rushing over to him
in order to apprehend the "thief."
Ginny, who had made her way to pay, noticed what Draco had done and stopped
abruptly.
Oh no, not again! She thought to herself.
Draco meanwhile was trying to explain to the muggles exactly what he'd been
trying to do, but they wouldn't listen to him.
"I assure you, I was merely trying to see if this worked, I was not
attempting to steal anything." He spotted Ginny. "See, there's my wife,
she's buying something as we speak," he pointed her out tothem.
"Please Sir, empty all of your pockets," one of the shop workers said to
him. Draco did as he was told and emptied his pockets. The first thing he
took out was the item he had snatched from the shelf; next were a few coins
(muggle ones) and lastly his wand, which the muggles mistook for a piece of
wood. This of course made them wonder at his sanity because who carries
pieces of wood with them?
Ginny burst out laughing when she came to stand next to Draco and saw what
he'd taken. He looked at her rather quizzically as he didn't now the uses of
that particular item.
After Ginny had successfully persuaded the muggles that Draco was indeed
only testing them out (she didn't tell Draco what she'd told them so they
would believe her) and they were walking in the street again, he asked her
why she started laughing earlier.
Ginny, who had heard about these things from Hermione, starting laughing
again.
"Draco, you grabbed a packet of condoms!"
