The blood was dripping though his fingers has his hands covered the wound. The rest of his knights were running around in the background, fighting off their own foes. But not Arthur, he was kneeing next to Merlin, his cape pressed hard against the servant's wound.

"Merlin, how you doing?" Arthur asks lifting the cape, Merlin doesn't answer, this was a bad sign. "I need you just to hang on there for a few more minutes' friend".

Merlin groans, blood seeping out of his mouth leaving a stain down his chin and into his blue scarf. He coughs, spraying blood over Arthur front, the blood making its way into the spaces in the King's chain mail. His eyes start to drop, his eyelids covering his dark blue eyes. Eyes of a dying man, eyes that have the same look as many of the dying knights Arthur had fought with.

"Don't you dare! Keep your eyes open. That's an order." Arthur yells, cupping Merlin's face in his blood soaked hands.

"Arthur, I'm sorry." Merlins eyes fluttering shut, than slowly opening again. "Im so tired." His hand that was holding onto Arthur's collar fell limp at his side, his eyes rolling back into his head.

"Merlin." Arthur shakes his servant. His friend. His brother. But he gets no response. Merlin's head shifts to the side, his neck unable to hold up the weight. "Merlin. Merlin!" The Kings shouting gets the attention of his fellow knights. The make their way over to the fallen two. Gwaine is the first to speak.

"Arthur?" he gets not answer. Arthur is cradling Merlins to his chest; his face is void of all emotion. A gentle rocking is the only way that the knights know that his is still in there. Leon knells down beside Arthur and Merlin, placing his fingers on Merlins neck, his hands falls sadly after a few moments. He stands facing the knights, "His dead".

No words are said. No words are said as they tried to lift Merlin away from Arthur. No words are said when Arthur refused to let go. No words are said as Arthur lifts Merlin into the horse with him. No words are said as they make their way back to Camelot. No words are said at all.

Merlin was never mentioned again. It was as if he had never existed.
