AN: Wellhi! :D I haven't been on this account in years. *blows cobwebs off account* And uh... Until I can figure out how to make changes on my account, I'm apparently 13 years old. D:

*cough* BUTANYWAY.

This story is not mine. It was written by my brother, who originally wrote it for an AMV he was making. (Hence the shortness.) So, yeah. o.o

ENJOY?

Today, I looked up to the sky and wondered why it looked so beautiful.

Snow.

Something that was so strange and unusual had fallen upon the islands, yet we all accepted it with arms wide open. It didn't stick to the ground, but even so it was a step up from the tropical rainstorms that we usually got. Children ran about outside, sticking their tongues out to catch the flakes on their tongues, giggling when it melted into water. A large smile found its way onto my face, but just as quickly as it had come it was gone.

I thought about her.

Kairi.

I met Kairi when I was just a small boy. She had come from another world, no recollection of what had happened to her, or where she was from. The only memory that she held close was that of snow. She told me many times about the white and fluffy substance that stuck to the ground, and how she was disappointed that it never snowed here on Destiny Islands. As we grew older and her desire to see snow grew, I promised that one day I would take her to a place where it snowed all of the time.

That was just one of the empty promises.

Later that night, disaster struck.

To this day I still don't know what had happened, but when I found myself in our Secret Spot, I knew that things were never going to be the same. Kairi had slipped through my grasp, and she was gone.

I searched for her for what felt like a year, maybe even more. I had been so focused I didn't keep track. But everywhere I went there was no sign of her. Occasionally I ran into someone who had seen or heard of her, but that was long before I came around. They didn't know where she'd be now. The stress of this had become too much, and I was close to giving up. But one day, luck was on my side.

No, I didn't get her back. But I saw her. On a pirate ship headed to who-knows-where, I saw her. She had been one level above me, trapped in a room and unmoving. I stood there, arm outstretched as if that would make her move. And again, luck had been on my side. She moved.

My joy had been short lived though, because then I had been thrown overboard. My whole world was slowly leaving me, and I could not follow.

I did see her again.

One year later, in Castle Oblivion. We had both changed, emotionally and physically. She was happy to see me, and I happy to see her. But the timing of this reunion couldn't have been more badly placed, because I had forgotten the swarm of Heartless that I had been fending off and they tackled me to the ground. And Kairi made the worst mistake. She jumped headfirst off the balcony, not thinking of what she was diving into. She just wanted to see me. Another pack of Heartless appeared, and jumped her.

I… I could protect myself from the Heartless. Kairi…

She could not.

Back home at Destiny Islands, I am always reminded of her. Whether it's just standing outside next to the ocean, or looking in our Secret Spot at all of the drawings we made.

But this snow… This snow was what reminded me of her the most. And I didn't know whether to be happy, or to cry.

Today, I looked up to the sky and wondered why it looked so beautiful. And then I remembered it was because you are up there.
