"Clare you don't understand!" Eli yelled.
"Of course Eli I never understand anything anymore! You never wanna talk about anything not with me!" Clare screamed back as tears rolled down her face in the pouring rain.
"Well excuse me if I've had something's going on in my life that you wouldn't get!"
"Like what Eli please talk to me." She whispered grabbing his hand in hers.
Eli sighed and looked down at their hands. "Just forget it Clare look maybe we should take a break."
Clare gasp "What? You wanna end things?"
"Maybe it's for the best, were never gonna have a normal relationship! I'm too messed up and your not were opposites Clare and I know that I said opposites attract but I think were just TOO different were not right for each other."
Eli pulled his hands away from Clare's and she looked up at him with sad eyes.
"That's not true we can make it if we just try Eli, we've lasted over a year how can you just be willing to give that up?"
"Clare look at how many fights we've gotten into in the past year the thing with Julia , Fitz , your different makeover , your parents' divorce , My hording problems , our regious beliefs or lack of mine , that's 6 plus many more that we gotten into."
"But it doesn't matter Eli we've gotten past all of it and plus we've had so many good times that can top those pointless fights."
She smiled and touched his cheek.
"Our first kiss, our first date, all those nights laying on morty underneath the stars, the first time you said I love you."
Clare's hand traveled to his neck where it wrapped around a chain with a ring on it she wrapped her fingers around the ring.
"The first time you made love to me." She whispered looking into his eyes.
Eli was trying so hard to be strong he had to do this Clare was to good for him she deserved so much better than him he had too many problems it wasn't fair to her.
He needed to end things so she could move on and be happier or at least have a chance at it, he would leave town for a while to give her time to heal and find happiness.
He loved her with all of his heart but he would only cause her hurt and pain in the future somehow and so he was doing what he thought was for the best even though it was the hardest thing he'd ever have to do.
He touched her cheek gently.
"I love you Clare so much but I'm not good enough for you."
"I love you too Eli and your more than"- Clare was cut off by Eli's lips.
He kissed her roughly and passionately parting her lips and slipping his tongue in her mouth Clare moaned and ran her hands through his sopping wet hair his hand gripped her waist and pulled her as close as she could get to him.
He poured every emotion he had into that kiss tears escaping his eyes as he knew it would be the last time he would kiss her possibly forever; this is for the best he kept repeating in his head.
He broke the kiss and hugged her "I love you Clare I always will I'm sorry."
He then pulled away from her and ran towards morty turning on the engine and driving, as he got halfway down the block he looked in his rearview mirror to see the girl he loved more than anyone else in the word on her knee's on her front porch in the middle of the rain crying for him.
"I'm sorry Clare" He whispered tears streaming down his face as he continued driving.
