The TARDIS was quite happy to have all that foolishness ahead of her…or was it behind her? Tenses never did make sense, but all this nonsense of exploding and not exploding and exploding some more was enough to tax anyone's systems. And then there was the business of the almost-but-not-quite Time Lady who piloted her occasionally, who didn't actually exist yet because her parents were even now in the act of…oh, dear.
The TARDIS did not care at all for such messy biological shenanigans occurring within her confines, but she supposed it was the price of keeping her Thief happy. He became quite unmanageable without his strays to keep him company.
She mourned for their beloved Wolf, lost forever to that parallel universe. Her Wolf had saved her Thief in so very many ways. When her Wolf absorbed the energy of the time vortex, in order to save him from those dreadful intergalactic vermin, the TARDIS thought it the perfect solution - her Wolf would become a creature of time, like her Thief. It would allay his crippling fear of losing her. But…well…something had gone a bit awry, as flesh bodies weren't meant to contain the energy of the vortex. Her Thief had had to draw the excess energy out of their Wolf, and that had cost him one of his regenerations.
Despite her Wolf's considerable efforts, they'd been separated. Again. And her Thief was left alone. Again. There had been other strays, but he'd tried to push them away, tried to protect his hearts, but he was rubbish on his own. He'd gotten himself into dreadful mischief and had to regenerate. Again.
Her Thief had managed to crash her in the garden of yet another human. He was quite fond of her and the pretty one, but he was afraid of them, as well…afraid of the day he'd lose them, or they would lose him, and he'd be left alone again. The TARDIS pondered this conundrum while trying very hard to ignore the activities of her passengers. Really - did they have to be so noisy about it?
Where was she? Oh, yes. The perfect solution would be for her Thief to have another creature of time to keep him company, but how to go about it? Obviously, she couldn't allow the humans to initiate the process themselves - they didn't have sufficient judgment in matters of vortex energy - and her Thief wouldn't even try. He had all those silly rules of his, most of which seemed to exist only to keep him from what would make him truly happy.
She would need to be careful…just the lightest touch of time energy this time, just enough to - drat those humans! How could she be expected to concentrate with all that…oh. Oh.
