The Only Elf in Moria
'We shall rest here,' said Gandalf, stopping suddenly.
'Finally,' yawned Pippin, 'If you are going to deprive us of normal meals, you are going at least have to let us sleep a good amount!'
'And what normal meals might that be, young Pippin?' asked Gimli.
'Second Breakfast, Elevenses, Afternoon Tea, and Supper,' replied the young hobbit.
'What is the difference between Dinner and Supper?' Boromir asked in a confused tone.
'Supper is about an hour after dinner,' replied Pippin.
Gandalf's loud and not so realistic snore cut off Pippin and Merry's laughter at their companions annoyed and confused expressions.
'Good night to all,' said Gimli as he walked over and laid next to the already sleeping Gandalf. Boromir joined him as did four tiered amused hobbits.
Legolas looked at his sleeping companions. Than he leaned back against a cold pillar and sighed sadly.
Aragorn who sat a few feet away, watching the sad elf now came over and sat next to him.
'What's wrong Legolas?' he asked kindly.
Legolas continued to stare into the blackness. 'I can not see. No matter how hard I try all I see is darkness. I feel cut off. I feel blind and cold. It is absolutely silent here. I long for the warmth of the sun, to be able to see my surroundings, to here the breeze rustling the leaves on the trees. All I see here is darkness and death,' he said quietly.
'I know how hard this must be for you. Harder than for anyone else. I know how you elves hate being underground,' said Aragorn. He held the elf's hands in his own. They were ice cold. He began to gently rub them, trying to warm them.
'You are cold, let me help warm you,' said Aragorn as he slipped between the elf and the pillar. Legolas leaned back and sighed. He closed his eyes and leaned his head against the Ranger's shoulder.
As he felt the elf's breathing slow and muscles loosen as he fell asleep he began to hum quietly and sing of the fair land of Lothlòrien and Rivendell and of the wood elves of the Mirkwood forest.
