Tongue

Tongue; everyone has one and most people know how to use theirs. Whether this meant sucking face or being the wittiest motherfucker on the block didn't really matter.
Nick had a tongue and boy did he know how to use his. He could think of the quickest and best comebacks most people had ever heard, he could sweet-talk his way into anyone's pants and he could lie with the most truthful look on his face.
Ellis also had a tongue, and he too, knew how to use it. He could out-talk anyone with his hick-stories about him and his mysterious friend Keith. He'd start to tell a tale while beating a zombie in the head with a baseball bat. The others would tire of his talking, mainly Nick. Nine times out of ten it was Nick who snapped at 'Overalls' for his excessive talking. Coach would seldom ask Ellis to hush and Rochelle was the most lenient and patient with Ellis, most likely being because she was one, a motherly like woman, and two, was closer to his age then the other two boys.
Ellis may have been a hick, but he wasn't completely blind or stupid. He noticed that Nick snapped at him more than Coach told him 'Now isn't the time, boy' or the rare 'Hush, hon, I'll listen to your story later' from Ro. He of course wondered why Nick seemed to hate him so much, especially considering that Nick would heal him more then Rochelle and Coach would, not because they didn't want to, but he always insisted upon doing it and would sometimes put up a fight about it. The only real time Ellis wasn't healed by Nick was when Nick himself was out of it himself. Ellis thought that maybe it was just a survival thing. Ellis was the youngest and the strongest and also had the most knowledge and experience with guns then the other three.
It wasn't until after Ellis got pounced on and pinned by a Hunter and had been attacked longer then usual, everyone else having been caught up in their own attempts to free Coach from a Smoker and fight off a horde to hear Ellis's screams for help. When the Hunter was finally left with a bullet in its head and Ellis heaved onto his feet, the group learned how badly injured and how lucky Ellis had gotten. His confusion was cleared shortly after that.
It wasn't until after Ellis found out first hand that Nick was quite skilled with that tongue of his, in more ways then just one. After Nick had patched Ellis up, making sure the stitches were even and as good as he could get them, and making sure the hick had some of the pain pills Coach offered, he helped him up to his feet and while Rochelle and Coach were out looking for some more med kits, having had to use their last on Ellis, Nick managed to work his tongue into Ellis's mouth and showed Ellis the true meaning behind his standoffish front he put on. At first Ellis was surprised but he relaxed and smiled some, his confusion gone and in full understanding now, focusing clearly on kissing Nick back and showing the conman that he too, knew how to work his tongue.
