He should've at least said something to her.
It's been a week since that day. The day he lost everything he cared about.
He slowly pushed the wooden door open, cringing as the hinges made a squeaking sound. As he looked around the forgotten room, he suddenly forgot the reason why he was there in the first place. Everything was far too nostalgic for him to bear. Her scent was there, her aura was there, her memory was there. It was too much for him to handle. He sighed, proceeding to empty out the drawers.
He grimaced at the amount of dust that had settled in the room. After emptying out the last of her closet, he then proceeded to empty out her desk drawers. He tugged at one of the handles, but the drawer refused to open. He tried other handles, but they too wouldn't open. The drawers were locked shut. Remembering his days in the underground, he took out a pin and started picking at the locks. After confirming that all of them were totally unlocked, he opened the top drawer. Inside it were letters. A lot of letters. He then opened the others, only to find more and more letters. He emptied out every single drawer, until there was a huge pile of letters on the floor.
'Should I read them?' He thought to himself. After thinking about it for a minute or so, he decided to read them. 1 hour passed, and he was able to finish reading almost all of them. He looked at the mess on the floor, sneering as he went to pick them up. But something caught his eye in the process. He stood up, looking at the scattered letters. He noticed that some words on the papers were standing out. He also saw that they can be connected to form something. He immediatly and frantically started rearranging the papers. Rembering tbat it was windy outside, he quickly closed the windows shut then returned to work. He was too focused on his work that he didn't hear Hanji knock nor did he see her open the door. He only noticed when she poked him, which ended up having Levi take Hanji down.
"Oh, it's you. What do you want, shitty glasses?" Levi spat out at her as she stood up.
"All of us were just looking for you actually." Hanji said as she brushed the dust off her clothes. She then looked behind Levi and saw the scattered papers. "Whatcha doin in there huh? Can I help?" Hanji looked expectantly at Levi. Levi glared back.
"No."
"But–"
"No."
"Aww, come on. Just at least tell me what you're doing then I'll leave." Hanji tried to persuade Levi. He sighed.
"Fine. After this, get the fuck out. I was just cleaning this room when I noticed that the desk drawers were locked. I opened them then I saw letters. I read almost all of them then I went to pick them up. But then, I saw that some words were darker or lighter than the other words on the papers. So now, I'm rearranging them. There, happy? Now leave." Levi then pointed at the door.
"Ooh, so like there are these secret messages or something?" Hanji asked.
"I said leave. Right. Now." Levi emphasized every word.
"No. You got me interested. I'm gonna help." Hanji put her hands to her hips.
"Ugh, fine."
"Yay!"
After 30 minutes of rearranging, they saw that the lighter words formed a border shaped like a heart. The darker words meanwhile, formed larger words. It said:
'Captain,
Grazie.
Perdoñeme.
Sayonara.
J'etaime.
-Petra'
Levi was about to cry. Hanji looked at him apologetically. Seeing that he need some privacy, she quietly went out and closed the door. Levi, meanwhile, was crying as he looked at the message. He knelt down and wept.
He should've said something before she left.
yeah feels, I know.
"Say something, I'm giving up on you..."
