Better to have loved and lost...

--------------------------------------------------

Shuichi was shocked when he saw the dedication at the beginning of Yuki's new novel. For one thing it was a poem and he had no idea that Yuki could even write poetry. Secondly, it was dedicated to "My Angel". Yuki never talked like that. Once he read it though all doubts vanished. It was deffinately written by Yuki, his delicate yet passionate style was impossible to miss, the words jumped off the page and into his heart.

You brought such warmth in to my heart
You lit my cold dark nights
You kept my world from falling apart
You helped me win the fight

You kept my world together
During even the darkest times
Through even the stormiest weather
You were my rock, my shrine

You were a wonderous angel
Sent to me from heaven above
You caught me when I fell
You gave me so much love

You said we'd be together
Through all the good times and bad
So much for forever
What happened to what we had

Why do we make promises
That we know we can not keep
In a ditch are all my wishes
Where the darkness starts to seep

For now my light is gone
Banished from my sky
Stolen by a con
Who cheated and lied

But i will get through this
I can make my own light
And even though I do miss
The warmth in the night

I will pull myself through
This hard time
That i can do
I will be fine

I will not lose what it costs
I will no longer fall
For you see its better to have loved and lost
Than not to have loved at all

Shuichi couldn't help the tears that crept into his eyes as he read and re-read what was typed on the page. He didn't realize that Yuki had come in until he felt his arms wrap around his shoulders.

"I love you Shu," he spoke into his ear.

"I love you too Yuki."

Yuki had finally made the break through they had been waiting for. He accepted Shuichi into his life, accepted his love and acceptance...and by the last words of the poem Shuichi could see that he was finally over Kitazawa, and grateful for the love Shuichi gave him. The first half of the poem was about Shuichi, the second about Kitazawa...and Shuichi smiled at the obvious distinction.

Yuki was finally going to be fine.
