Hi! I'm mainly writing this because there's, like, heaviness in my heart that won't go away. I don't own Percy Jackson. Enjoy! . . . Or cry. I'm just kidding . . . Or am I?

Annabeth

If you've ever lost someone exceptionally close to you, you know pain. You wake up in the morning and forget they're gone. For those 3 seconds, the world is a happy and peaceful. The universe won't let that happen. After that, the worst feeling hits. The desolation, despair, anguish and total hopelessness. The "what's the point?" mood. Annabeth has had enough of the gods. Enough of their stupid tricks, playing with mortals and their own children as long as it keeps them in power. Of course, she'd never say that. There are some days when she wakes up and thinks he's still here. Full of energy, the siblings who are awake finally feel happy - well, happy isn't the word for it. Annabeth isn't the only one to miss Percy. She bounces to his cabin, exuberant and determined that the Percy disappearance is just a nightmare. That she'd wake up and see him. He'd hug her and promise that everything was okay. Swearing that he would never leave her. It took five years for him to ask her out. They didn't have to wait any longer than that. Of course, this is Percy we're talking about. It's never normal. When she goes to the Poseidon cabin at 6:00AM, she's happy that no one is awake. They can't see her cry and curl up in Percy's bunk.

Annabeth Chase doesn't cry. Well, if she doesn't cry, then why has she been doing it so damn much? Every day. Tears rolled down her cheeks, filling her with sorrow that she can't explain. Pure terror. When she was kidnapped at 14, she was gone for so little. Percy, apparently, was terrifying. Resolute and determined. At the time, she figured it was his loyalty. Now, he was gone. Kidnapped. She was useless. She knew that Percy wouldn't sit around if anyone in this camp was gone. That was one of the reasons he was gone. Leadership. Loyalty. Kick ass fighting skills. Determination. Reflexes. Odd sense of plan making that effectively works. Only some of the reasons he was traded with Jason Grace. An unbalanced trade, in her opinion. In all honesty, she doesn't think that Jason and Percy match up. Their talents . . . Well, it leaves Jason lacking. Severely.

Some days, she realizes quickly. It stops the embarrassment. Percy, the missing leader's girlfriend is crying pathetically again. Poor thing. But she's Annabeth Chase. She tries not to let it drag her down. Easier said than done. She knows the new kids desperately want to know about Seaweed Brain. She just can't bring herself to talk about him. Somehow, everything would seem too real. Honestly, the other campers don't want to talk about him, either.

She knows that his best friends are filled with turmoil, too. Thalia switched to waterproof eyeliner. Tyson doesn't eat peanut butter anymore. Grover doesn't bleat. Nico hardly talks, but once I caught him muttering, "Can't believe I spent so much time hating such a good person. I miss my best friend."

Annabeth knows he'll come back. He's Percy. He always comes through. This time, if he doesn't . . . Annabeth can't handle it. If Percy doesn't survive, she doesn't. His best friends won't. The camp can't. That makes the gods unable to cope, as well. The giants will overrun them. Who knows if the Roman demigods would be willing to (or good enough to) fight alongside the gods against the giants. All of Greek existence, on the shoulders of such a Seaweed Brain. Gods help us. But he's her Seaweed Brain and she needs him to exist, just like she needs air.
