A/N: This is my first Atlantis fic and, frankly, I'm amazed it's took me this long to write it. I LOVE Atlantis and I will never forgive the BBC for axing such an amazing programme. Okay, rant over. For the fifth day of FanFiction I give to you...

All the words we never said

Icarus flew like an eagle across the sky whilst arrows zipped around him. He dropped firebombs on top of the guards pursuing Pythagoras and his friends. For once he felt free, like he could do anything. Like he could tell Pythagoras what he had never dared to say before.

He swept round the square one last time to check all the guards had fled when it happened. One who must have been hiding shot an arrow up at him and it found its mark. Icarus flapped desperately in an attempt to stay in the air. He completely forgot his father's words about not panicking as he plummeted downwards. The last thing he acknowledged before falling unconsious was the swiftly approaching roof of a farmers barn.

Pythagoras saw Icarus falling moments before they fled the city. His heart gave a painful tug and he spun and ran towards Icarus. He heard Hercules and Jason yelling after him but he didn't stop or even hesitate. His thoughts ran widlly, matching the beat of his heart.

He's dead. He's dead. I didn't tell him. He's dead. He's dead.

Pythagoras didn't stop to breath until he reached his fallen friend. The sight of Icarus's broken body lying alone shattered his heart into pieces.

No. No. He can't be dead. I never told him how I felt. What did I do to deserve this? What did he do? Why Icarus? Why us?

"Icarus! NO!" Pythagoras managed to choke this one sentence out before running to the body in the hay. He fell to his knees beside Icarus and reached with trembling hands to touch him one last time.

His hair was tangled and had fallen into his closed eyes. Pythagoras brushed the soft locks out of the way and gazed into Icarus's beautiful face. The skin was smooth and he had an almost peaceful expression. Pythagoras yearned to look into those beautiful eyes once more and apologise for all he had said. He wanted to tell Icarus all the words he'd never dared to utter before. He wanted his friend to be alive. Was that too much to ask after all they'd been through?

I'm sorry, Icarus. I have failed you.

Pythagoras sobbed and pressed his hands to Icarus's chest. He felt a flutter underneath his fingertips and raised his head to see Icarus's lovely chocolate eyes staring into his own. He let out a small gasp as tears continued to stream down his cheeks.

"Icarus?" He asked, not quite believing that his friend was alive.

"Pythagoras. I'm so sorry. I-"

Before Icarus could finish his sentence, Pythagoras leant forward and stopped him with a kiss. Icarus's lips were soft and the kiss was tender. It said all the words that hadn't been said before. It said 'I love you' in a way that neither of them would have been able to be word better than this.

They could have lain in the hay for hours were it not for Hercules.

"If you're quite finished, we have to flee the city."

Pythagoras offered his hand to Icarus and, as they ran, they clung to each other like they'd never let go.

A/N: I don't have much time so please leave a review telling me how you like it and tomorrow will be another DW poem. Bye!
