PROLOGUE
The cat hissed and stepped into the moonlight. Light flickered off of its fur, shattering into rainbow colored light around it.
The other cat clan stepped back, retreating from the strange glittering cat, back into the shadows. The turned and fled, frightened by the white glistening cat.
"What do you want, mongrel?" Ice growled. She looked up, to see young Shadow standing over her.
"Come on, Ice! You never do anything anymore! All you do is lay about, staring at the sky!" the young black cat called Shadow complained.
"That's 'cause-" Ice's reply was cut off when she started coughing. Her cough was loud and hoarse. Shadow stepped back.
"I think your sick, Ice…." Shadow trailed off. "What do you want me to get you, what will make you feel better? I bet I can get you medicine. Yeah. Just give me one second…" Shadow dashed out of the den. I wonder what's wrong with her. He thought as he raced across the clearing to the low forsythia bush. "Stream!" he hissed urgently into the den. "Get out here! Ice is sick!"
A young cat stepped out. She was beautiful with long flowing blue-grey fur. She had a mouthful of leaves. "Mufff Muff!" she mumbled, her speech distorted by the plants in her mouth.
Shadow stared at her, "What did you say?" he meowed, "I hate to be a burden but-"
"MUVE!" she mumbled again, urgently. She gestured with her tail for him to get out of her way.
"Oh!" Shadow exclaimed, stepping out of the way. He started to follow Stream towards where Ice was lying, but suddenly he collapsed and started coughing. He felt weak. What's happening to me?! he thought.
