A/N: For Sanchy, to welcome her to Harry Potter Fanfiction Challenges. I hope you like it sweetie xx
It was crowded and noisy in the common room that night and Lily was at the end of her tether. She was trying to study, but wasn't getting anywhere fast. She massaged her temples and let go an exasperated sigh.
"What's up flower? Asked Sirius dropping into the seat next to her.
"Sirius," said Lily curtly.
"You seem tense Red," smiled Sirius.
"If it's all the same to you Black I have studying to finish," snapped Lily.
"Ooo, snappy much Red?" sung Sirius.
"What do you want Sirius?" barked Lily.
"To annoy you," grinned Sirius.
"Well it's working!" said Lily through gritted teeth.
Suddenly Sirius' head jolted forward a few inches as James smacked him across the back of the head, hard.
"Pads, leave my girl alone," said James with a grin.
"Oi you git, that hurt," said Sirius rubbing his head.
"I'm surprised you could feel it, what with your thick head and all," muttered Lily.
This caused James much mirth.
"Come on lets go for a walk," James whispered to Lily.
Lily just nodded her head in agreement. James took her by the hand and led her out of the common room and threw the invisibility cloak over them both as they were both too tired to have to come up with an excuse for being out, Heads or not. It wasn't their night to patrol. James led Lily outside towards the lake. Finally James spoke.
"You okay Lils?" asked James softly kissing her hand.
"I'm okay James, just a bit tired. I'll be glad when exams are over," said Lily on a sigh.
"Yeah I know what you mean Lils, things have just been so stressful for so long," said James quietly.
Lily turned herself in on James and wrapped her arms around his neck and planted a soft kiss on his mouth. James kissed Lily back and wrapped his arms around her and lifted her off her feet. In an instant James broke the kiss and swung Lily around before collapsing to the ground.
"Would you look at that sky," said James pointing towards the heavens.
Lily turned her head a looked. It was a clear night and the stars were shining brightly. In that moment several stars fell earthward.
"Oh did you see that?" asked Lily excitedly.
"Uh huh," murmured James not really watching the exhibition in the sky, but the rapture on Lily's face.
The meteor shower lasted for over an hour not that James watched any of it, he was too busy watching Lily's rapt expressions. Once it was over he rolled on to his side, and propped his head on his elbow and looked down at the beautiful girl laying on the grass beside him.
"I love you Lils," said James out of nowhere.
"Where's this come from?" asked Lily with a soft smile.
"It's just nice to see you so relaxed that's all," said James quietly stroking her cheek with his thumb.
"I'm sorry sweetheart, I didn't mean to be so aggy and tense," said Lily staring up into James' muted hazel eyes.
James just dipped his head and kissed Lily passionately. They stayed out until almost day break, just kissing, and watching the heavens enjoying the peace and quiet of the Hogwarts grounds.
