Only In Dreams

This is the beginning of a very teen-angst driven pokémon fanfic. It may be rocky at the beginning but I promise there will be more coming very, very soon.

It was dark, almost too dark to see anything in her path. She frantically sped past trees that towered over her like giants, rocks that looked like faces had been etched into them and various species of random pokémon. Her breathing began to get heavy and her limbs began to feel weak but she knew she had to keep running. She flew past the entrance to Yelnor Park and hung a sharp left on Route 32. She could see the town that was all too familiar to her and as much as she wanted to leave it behind forever there was nothing that felt so safe right now like Trugorge Town. A huge bang rang from behind her but she refused to turn to see what had caused it, fearing that they may be right on her heels; she pushed forward, straining just to keep her pace when all of a sudden everything went black and she fell to the ground.

"Vincent!" called a sharp, authoritative female voice. "Vincent, wake up now or so help me I will pull out of that bed and beat you!"

"uhhhh..." moaned Vincent. "Gah.. I'm up, dear lord." He rubbed his eyes, wiping away the dried sleep in the corners. He set up in bed, almost too dazed to realize where he was; last night had been one hell of a night and he could barely remember anything. He knew it had been amazing tho otherwise he would be able to recall what had happened. Today was the day he had been waiting for. Today was the day that would ultimately decide his fate as a pokémon trainer. Vincent shot out of bed and threw on his gear, a red hat, simple white shirt, a pair of old jeans and his favorite sneakers. He threw his bedroom door open and jumped out into the hall of his house, he sped down the hall, passing the bathroom and his sisters room, down the stairs and straight to the kitchen table. He threw his whole body effortlessly into the chair at the table and already had a fork in hand when his mother turned around.

"How was last night?" said Deena.

"Oh, you know just hung out with Ralph and Gina and some other kids..." Vincent smirked as he knew that that was not all they did. Although he did not remember everything he did recall that they had gotten wasted off their asses and also that they had taunted poor Mrs. Gillmans stoutland to the point that it dug up her whole berry garden.

"Well that's nice, I'm glad you had fun." said Deena not even looking at Vincent. "Are you ready to start your "adventure" or whatever you kids are calling it these days?" Vincent just sat quitely.

"You know when I was your age and I got my first pokémon, I thought I was hot shit. I would go around and have my jigglypuff sing everyone to sleep just to do it." Deena laughed. "but I was young and dumb." she turned to face Vincent. "Please don't be ignorant, we have enough of that with your father." She winked and handed Vincent his bowl of oatmeal.
