Summary: Jack is pacing the waiting room.

AN: For the lovely dawnie1970 Happy birthday

It was 3:15 in the morning, and Jack Mcphee paced the small hospital waiting room. While there were several other people in the waiting room, no one seemed to speak to him now. They were probably all thinking the same thoughts that he was.

Pacey Witter grabbed his arm softly when Jack passed for what had to have been the 100th time. "You are making me more nervous."

Jack slumped down in the chair next to him, his head instantly dropping into his hands.

Pacey patted his back gently. They had already been here several hours, and he was sure they would spend several more.

Mrs. Witter, in the chair across from them, gave Pacey a soft smile, as if to say 'everything would work out well.'

Her husband slept near her in the chair nearby. He hadn't spoken much, and it had been a miracle whenever the doctor came out to ask a question, that he had deferred to Jack in the matter.

Jack looked up wearily, just as Doctor Thomas came out again.

The doctor smiled at Jack. "He's has just woken up from surgery, and he is asking for you."

Doctor turned to the rest of the waiting room. "I am sure the nurses wouldn't mind extending visiting hours, but no one can stay too long he needs his rest."

Jack got up quickly, and he followed the doctor to a private ICU room.

He hugged Doug as soon as the doctor left the room. "Don't ever get shot again." He said softly.

Doug chuckled softly. "I love you too, Mcphee."
