The light shone down into a cave and on a single stone surrounded by beautiful, well-cared for yellow flowers. In front of the stone among the flowers sat a skeleton staring at the gravestone. The short skeleton wore a black, fur-rimmed jacket over a red sweater. Sans came to this grave as often as he could, sometimes staying the night instead of going home. He knew he was making his brother worry, but he just couldn't leave her be.
Frisk deserved to be remembered, to be mourned for. Although all monsters were thankful, no one truly knew the sacrifices she had made to save them.
Kindness, that was what she had given, it was what had saved them all.
Forgiveness, that is what they had all been given without anyone knowing and without having earned it.
She had been so determined to be kind, to save them all even though none had deserved it. Because sometimes Kindness is all one has, and sometimes it is enough. The overwhelming kindness had grown, had blossomed all around and in the end had been sacrificed for the undeserving.
And it slowly killed him.
Those beautiful, tiny yellow flowers represented kindness, determination, death and so much more. They had slowly spread throughout the cave, starting from her resting place and even to the outside.
Already fifteen years had passed since the monsters were freed; the flowers had started to grow throughout the Underground without any light and enveloped even the walls of the cave.
Sans sighed.
"hey kiddo. guess what, it's already been fifteen years since you freed us all. everyone's still really thankful, but they have also gone on with their lives. toriel and asgore are back together and fighting for the rights of monsters, of course only with words. they want to follow your example. undyne is their bodyguard and teaches fellow monsters to fight in case of emergencies. after all not all humans are as kind as you. alphys has become a world renown scientist, she is working on helping flowey now. and mettaton is famous for many movies and tv shows. pap is helping undyne. they've all come quiet far. i wish you were here to see it. i am very bonely. "
Sans chuckled weakly, quiet tears running down his cheekbones. Then a sob stole its way through him and he buried his face in his hands slowly curling up.
He was so wrapped up in crying that at first he didn't hear the footsteps coming towards him. They were quiet, soft steps and Sans slowly raised his head only to stare ahead.
"tell paps i'll go home soon." he said just loud enough to be heard. After all these years he knew the acoustics here very well.
The steps stopped. A familiar voice made him freeze up.
"Sure, I can tell him. But I think we have some things to talk about too."
Slowly, Sans turned around.
A/N As I said, this is a possible prologue to a story I have some ideas on. If anyone wants to write something here are my ideas:
- After the monsters were freed Frisk (and the other human souls) were reborn
- The monsters were very grateful and decided to try a peaceful coexistence with humanity.
- Gaster is also thankful and decided to find Frisk's soul and help them along
- Frisk is abused/neglected by their new family and Gaster instead cares for Frisk until
- Frisk runs away to the monsters after finding out their fate
- Frisk either remembered themself or thanks to Gaster
- All the time Sans has grieved and spent most of his time in the Underground at Frisk's grave, where they first fell
If you decide to write a Story based on these ideas please tell me. I'd really like to read something like this.
