I squinted in the bright sun after stepping of a city bus. Finally, summer was here! I walked into my apartment building and grabbed the mail, then proceeded to flip through it as I walked up the 4 flights of stairs to my apartment.
There were bills, junk mail and all the usual stuff. Then I saw one addressed to me, with no return address. My name and address were written in ink, like, actual old-fashioned ink. Once I had reached my floor, I pulled out a key and unlocked the door. My mom Lillian was sitting on the couch, along with my adopted mom, Laura. My mom was bi, and had met Laura a couple months after I was born. I never knew much about my dad.
"Hey! How was your last day of school?" She said, enthusiastically.
"It was alright." I replied "I found this letter in the mail."I handed it to her.
"Well that's odd..."She started to tear it open. As she pulled out the letter Laura leaned over to read it. Suddenly, Laura gasped and my mother started sobbing.
"What is it?!" I asked franticly.
