Third person pov

Freddie walked to the Groovy Smoothie. He went because number one it was gonna be Sam's birthday soon and two he wanted to tell her how he felt about her. He entered the smoothie shop and saw Sam cleaning tables. "Yo yo" he said to her. "What's up" she answered. "I can't believe you came tonight, didn't your psychopath mother tuck you in bed?" they both laughed. Sam continued to clean tables. Freddie just stood there and watched her. The beautiful Sam Puckett, with blond curly hair and baby blue eyes. His beautiful Sam Puckett, he corrected himself.

"Can I still get a smoothie?" he asked. "Sure, what do ya want?" she asked lazily as she went to the blender. "A blueberry blitz" Freddie answered. Sam finished the making the smoothie and brought it to him. "Here" she said. She was stressed out from all the hours she has had to work and wanted to go home. But Freddie is here, maybe this could be a great birthday, she said to herself.

She watched as Freddie took a few sips of his smoothie and set it down on the table. "Thanks a lot for making me waste my time to make a smoothie nub" she said to him. "Whatever" he said. He pulled put package and showed it to Sam. She looked at it and was amazed. The small package was wrapped in a blue paper with a purple bow. "Thanks" she mumbled and grabbed it from his hands. Finally! A present! She said to herself. He was probably the only one who remembered. Sure Carly was her best friend, but she started hanging out with the popular girls and nearly forgot about her. Carly didn't even give her card today at school. All she got was a mumbled "Happy Birthday" as she went to her locker to re-apply her makeup. Her mom was with some new boyfriend of hers and never said a word to her this morning. Melanie, well Melanie just has a way better life and no time for a misfit like me. But Freddie, Freddie actually remembered. She tore it open and saw a jewelry box. She looked up Freddie who gave her that "just open it" look and she did. It was her ham necklace that she gave Freddie years ago from when they first met.

Sam sat on the swings alone as always. She looked at her hands in her lap. No one will ever like me, she said to herself sadly. "Hi" a boy her age said to her. "Hi, now please go away!" she said to the kid. "Why?" he asked. "Why are you even talking to me?" she asked him. No one ever talks to me she said to herself. Girls in her class would just make fun of her and would never sit next to her at lunch. "I don't know, you look lonely, you look like you need a friend." The boy said."Yeah, like someone will ever be my friend." She angrily said. "I will" he answered. Sam's face lit with joy. "You will be my friend?" she asked. She got out of the swings and the boy. Someone was actually willing to talk to her. "My names Freddie" he said. "What's yours?" "Sam" she answered. "Cool" he answered. The rest of the time was fun for them both. When it was time to go, Sam took of her ham necklace and put it in Freddie's hand. "Thanks for playing with me, nub" she said as she punched him in the arm.

"I thought you got rid of this" she said. "Nope, I kept it for a day like this" he answered, and he got it out of the box and put it on Sam. He heard the song "Saving Grace" and knew it was time to make his move. "Would you like to dance?" he asked her. "Sure" she answered. Freddie put his hands on Sam's waist and Sam put hers around Freddie's neck. They danced and talked and laughed. "I love you" Freddie whispered in Sam's ear. "I do to, Freddork" she answered and kissed him, kissed him like she never did before. "This is the best birthday ever" she whispered to herself.
