There was nothing left but ashes and dust. And a whole lot of blood.
Hers, Tommy's, Chris Hargensen's, Billy Nolan's. She didn't care so much for the last two but she cared for Tommy. He didn't deserve to die but he'd been caught in the crossfire too. Like the rest of them, and there was no turning back now. It was all over.
All of it. They had paid for their cruel actions. Their malice. She knew people could be cruel, God, she knew; what she'd done tonight was cruel, beyond cruel, but they deserved it. Every single one of them. Except Tommy. Poor Tommy didn't deserve any of this. He just wanted to be good, take her to prom, make her feel special, something other than Carrie White 'the laughing stock', and for a few moments it had worked, for those few fake moments she had actually felt like a queen but, no, they had to ruin it. They had to destroy everything, even those little moments of fake happiness. They had to hit her until she broke, and they'd achieved their goal. They had broken her until there was nothing left but, ashes, and dust, a ghost town, and a dead Carrie White.
They had achieved their goal alright but so had had she. They weren't the only ones who had their revenge tonight, and she was not the only one who died. They died too. She had made sure of that. She would not rest until they were all dead. All of them. There was only one thing she regretted. Tommy. He shouldn't have died. They shouldn't have hurt him too. Not him but they were just that cruel. They were that mean they would hurt anyone, anyone who was in any way associated with her. Even an Angel like Tommy Ross, but there was nothing to be done about this now. It was too late. It had been too late before it even began, and though she really felt bad for Tommy she would not have changed anything about tonight. As cruel as it was to admit she wouldn't change a single thing about any of this. She would still kill them all a hundred times over if she could. She would still burn them until there was nothing left but ashes and dust.
