"Trip!" Katie had returned to the clock tower with a small shopping bag. She sighed. The place was covered in mechanical parts. It looked like Trip had been tinkering again. "Trip, are you somewhere in this mess?"
A rustling sound and a green haired head popped up from behind the couch. "Oh!" He beamed and Katie couldn't help but grin. "Katie, you're back! But, you're early…"
She sighed, semi-exasperated. "Trip… what have you been doing… you know on second thought, I don't want to know…"
"Oh, I was just taking some things apart, and I got carried away…" Trip chuckled. "I should probably clean this up…"
"Don't worry about it. I'll help." Katie replied. "Oh, I bought you something." She held up the shopping bag.
"You got ME a present?" Trip lit up. "Oooh, what is it?"
Katie handed Trip the bag and he dug into it with an eager grin, pulling out a cube that looked like it was made with lots of different colored panels… like a puzzle. "Oh, Katie! Is this…"
"It's a rubix cube." Katie replied and she and trip sat down on the couch. She giggled as Trip eagerly began to work the puzzle. For him, it was like a code to be cracked. "The point of the cube is to match up all the colored…" She paused and stared at Trip for a moment, her eyes wide. "Oh my…"
Trip held up the completed puzzle, pleased that he'd managed to match up all the sides. "You mean, it's supposed to look like this when you're done?"
Unable to speak, Katie nodded. "I think that might be some kind of world record."
Trip laughed. "Well, you didn't expect me to take all day with it, did you?"
She couldn't help it. She laughed and gave Trip a big hug, careful not to squeeze too hard. "Oh, Trip… you're something, all right."
At her hug, his smile grew and he laughed. "Well… if I wasn't, I wouldn't be me, now would I?"
