JOURNEY'S END

Elizabeth stared at his tousled brown hair, his face was so calm, so peaceful as he slept, an arms draped across her middle in an embrace. It was the beginning of a new relationship, but it already felt right to Elizabeth. After all they had been through together, including the torture when they had been captured by the Wraith, they could forget it all, just by being in each other's arms. The scars could still be seen on his face in the rising sun, she felt terrible, having to watch as he was tortured. When they we're taken to the cells every night, her trying to comfort him as he writhered around in pain, she felt the guilt. She was being tortured too. But mentally. Having to watch him dying slowly...Feeling tears welling up in her eyes, she was surprised to fell herself being pulled closer to John.
"Don't cry." He whispered, "We're both here...everything is going to be alright..."
She stared into his brown eyes, breathing out slightly and swiping at her eyes.
He smiled gently, wiping the tears from her cheeks with his thumb.
"Everything will be alright..." He whispered, pulling her even closer. She shivered slightly as his breath caressed her cheek, she tried not to smile as his serious and loving smile suddenly broke out into a large, goofy grin.
"What?" She asked, sitting up slightly, and giving into the urge to smile.
"Just thinking about breakfast...I was thinking on the lines of turkey sandwiches..."
Elizabeth frowned, still smiling slightly.
"Sandwiches...for breakfast?" They both smiled. "It sounds lovely."
Climbing out of his bed, they both threw on some fatigues, before holding each others hand, and leaving his quarters toward the kitchens.
We were strangers, starting out on a journey,
Never dreaming, what we would have to go through,
Yet here we are, and I'm suddenly standing,

Their destiny might be unknown, their paths undecided, but for now, John and Elizabeth were in love.
