John looked around him. Sherlock had run downstairs, saying that he had had a revelation and needed silence, so John just stayed up on the roof of St. Bart's

Then he felt a presence.

He slowly turned around to see some-thing.

It was like a man in body; tall and dressed in a suit. But its fingers were extra long and club-like.

But its face was like nothing he had ever seen before. A bulbous crown, but the cheeks and eyes were sunken, and there was a patch of skin where the mouth should have been.

Then he felt a hand on his shoulder.

He sucked in his breath, but a human woman's voice said, "Don't take your eyes off of them."

John had been a soldier; he knew an order when he heard one.

"Can I blink?" He asked

"Yes." She replied.

John breathed deeply, "W...What do they want."

"Not you. They're here for Molly Hooper; she's my friend Amy's second cousin. I have to shoot them before they get downstairs.

'They?' John thought, 'There's only one.'

Three more of the things appeared.

The woman stepped in front of him. Her nails were red, John noticed, and her hair was an explosion of curly blondness. She was wearing a skirt, a jean jacket and heels of all things.

"Dr. River Song, by the way." She said.

"Dr. John Watson." He replied.

"Ooooo, a doctor, how lovely."

The things slowly started towards her.

"Dr. Song!" John warned.

"Don't worry."

John shifted to the side to see a remarkable gun in her hand. She held it calmly and fired. All four things crumpled. Stowing her gun under her jacket, River pulled a pen out of the pocket and drew four tally marks on her arm.

"What…what the hell, were those things?" John asked.

River turned to him and smiled. "Don't you worry, you'll forget about this whole thing as soon as you go downstairs."

John creased his forehead. "What?"

River smiled at him and strode up to the edge, quite obviously to jump.

"Wait!" John said, "Are you insane?"

River turned back, "Don't worry sweetie. My boyfriend will catch me."

John shook his head, bewildered. "But…"

River looked over the edge and sighed. "This reminds me of something."

"What? What does it remind you of?"

Dr. Song turned to him, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes; her perfectly red lips in a smile.

"Spoilers." She said.
