It had been a week since Nick came back to the apartment when he broke up with Caroline, Schmidt had made up with CeCe and they were making it official that they were girlfriend and boyfriend, Winston didn't have anyone and neither did Jess. It was Nicks birthday and the others had planned a birthday dinner for him. Schmidt was going to cook and the others would just get presents, since Schmidt didn't trust them all and thought that they wouldn't wash their hands while cooking. So Jess had gone to a clothes store that sold t-shirts with pictures of things like cartoon dinosaurs and the writing 'Rawr.' Winston had gone to get Nick another plant as a joke and CeCe had just gotten nick a plain shirt. Jess was looking at all the shirts and found one of a bear in glasses with writing on the top of the shirt saying 'Bear Hug.' They all met up and went back to the apartment to wrap the presents, Nick wasn't in the apartment so they were all safe to get to their rooms and wrap each present. By the time they had the presents wrapped, Nick had come into the apartment and Schmidt had the dinner ready.
"Hey Nick! Happy Birthday!" Jess half spoke, half sang.
"Hey guys, what's going on here?" Nick asked looking around at all the food on the table.
"Well, Schmidt has cooked you a birthday dinner and all of us have presents for you" Jess explained.
"Wow, you guys didn't have to do that" Nick smiled at them.
"Well we did, so sit down and enjoy the food" Schmidt said to Nick, Nick sat down and so did everybody else. After everyone was full up from eating Jess stood up.
"Present time" Jess announced and went into her room to get her present for Nick, the others got up and got their own presents for Nick and came back out. Cece handed Nick the present from her and Schmidt first. Nick opened it and smiled looking at the shirt.
"Thanks guys" he put the shirt on his lap and Winston gave Nick the plant.
"You know because you did a great job of looking after the last one" Winston smiled and they all laughed. Jess handed Nick her wrapped present and he unwrapped it looking at the shirt.
"Jess, this is such a you present but its great, thanks Jess" Nick smiled and Jess smiled back.
"It just reminded me of you because you're like a big cuddly bear" Jess replied.
"Listen Jess can I talk to you for a minute?" Nick asked standing up.
"Sure" Jess nodded and stood up too, Nick lead her to his bedroom and closed the door behind them.
"Jess do you want to know the real reason I broke up with Caroline?" Nick asked her.
"Because you would miss all of us" Jess suggested.
"No, because I fell in love with you Jess" Nick told her, Jess looked at him and opened her mouth a little in shock, but she had feelings for Nick too.
"Nick, this is really sudden" Jess told him and he looked at her.
"Good sudden or bad sudden?" he asked her.
"Good sudden. Nick over the past few weeks I realised I really liked you" Jess told him, Nick closed the gap between them and kissed Jess lightly.
