Eventually, the carriage would turn back into a muddy pumpkin. Kaoru knew that. The relationships they had now, this club that Tamaki saw as his dear family… Things were going to change.

But, what then?

What would they do?

What would he do?

They had opened a door, he and Hikaru. And, quickly, there world had expanded. Never before had they dealt with having friends; their world was small, with room for only two people. Twins, a pair of loving brothers who didn't want to be told apart, and then really, really, did. And, when the time came that someone really could tell them apart, finally acknowledging them as individual people, Kaoru truly realized how far they had expanded their little world.

His questions still rang. What would he do, when Hikaru decided he would become more independant, and realizes he has feelings for Haruhi? When Tamaki follows suit, realizing that he didn't want to play as the father figure to Haruhi, but something more? When it was time for Honey and Mori to graduate, and everything would change?

What would he do then, when the clock finally strikes midnight, and the carriage that he so dearly wished would stay a carriage has to turn back into a pumpkin?

To be frank, he didn't have the slightest clue.

However, he realized, the clock still hasn't quite struck midnight. At this, he smiled.

"Huh? Kaoru? Are you even listening?" Hikaru said next to him, looking at him with slight annoyance. Though, Kaoru didn't find it all too difficult to see a small trace of concern in his eyes and tone.

Laughing lightly to himself, Kaoru shook his head and smiled at his brother, along with the rest of the host club, who didn't bother hiding their own stares.

"No, sorry; just thinking about stupid stuff. Do continue."

After a look and a raised eyebrow, Hikaru shrugged, muttering something along the lines of, "Kaoru's weird" before turning back to everyone else, continuing their regular meeting. Cosplay was supposed to be the topic of discussion, but Tamaki was calling Kyoya "mommy" again and Haruhi was claiming sexual harassment. Honey, of course, was eating cake, Mori sitting right next to him and watching the madness that was the Host Club unfold.

And then, returning to his previous train of thought, Kaoru knew he could say one thing:

They'd be okay.

Even after the clock inevitably strikes midnight, and the carriage turns back into that stupid pumpkin, they'd be okay. They were the Ouran Host Club, after all. And, even on the slight chance that something did go wrong, as Kyoya would say-

"Well, well. Things will certainly go interestingly; they always do."
