Ok, so I had this random thought. This is a side story to From the Ashes simply because it has the same person as Jean's daughter, even though her name's not mentioned. This takes place during the second movie with one major difference, for some inexplicable reason, Phoenix is temporarily cooperating to help Jean.

William Stryker smiled at the good news of a successful mission. The kidnapping of those little mutant brats would surely bring the X-Men running. What the idiotic Stryker failed to realize, was that among his captives was the only child of Dr. Jean Grey (a.k.a. the Dark Phoenix). This lack of knowledge blinded him to the fact that he had just made one of the biggest mistakes of his soon to be ended life.

The X-Men glared at Magneto. They were ever so slightly annoyed at the discovery that they would need their hated enemy's help to rescue their imprisoned friends. Wolverine walked over to the jet just as Jean strode down the boarding ramp. "It should work now…maybe," she said. He met her as she stepped off onto the ground. "I…," he began, but he was interrupted as she doubled over clutching her head. "Jean! What's happened?" he asked. She looked up, teeth bared, eyes glowing red, "We leave now!" she hissed.

Stryker stood in silence, watching the security cameras and waiting, waiting for them to come. "You're in a lot of trouble, mister," a voice said from behind him. He spun around to see a little red-headed, green-eyed girl staring up at him. "Excuse me?" he questioned. She smiled eerily, "Mommy's not going to be happy when she sees what you did to Daddy and Professor Xavier." He frowned, "Daddy?" she smiled once more and pointed to the brown-haired mutant with laser vision who had accompanied Xavier. "Then who…?"

"Jean! Stop! You're going to get us killed!" Storm shouted as several guards were disintegrated. "Or…maybe not," Logan added. "Jean," Storm pleaded, "what's wrong?" Jean, eyes still glowing, glanced back at them. "Well, first, they have my husband. Second, they have my kid. Either one of those mistakes is enough to get me to turn their bones to dust and then scatter their ashes in the most remote corners of the earth, but both…" she turned and strode off with a murderous look on her face. The X-Men followed in fear.

Stryker frowned, again, "But no-one could possibly get past…" several guards ran screaming into the room. "We're all going to di…" They turned to dust as the door was torn off its hinges and thrown aside an angry looking red-haired woman with glowing eyes entered. "Hi, Mommy!" the little girl said cheerfully. "Uh oh," Stryker muttered. The next second he began to wonder if this whole thing had been a bad idea as he felt himself disintegrating.
