It was time. Travis and I had been planning one of our biggest quests for days now, and the night had finally come to accomplish it.
"Travis. Wake up." I whispered to my twin brother lying on a bunk next to mine. He shuddered awake. "It's go time. You got the goods?" I ask.
"Of course I do. What do think I've been doing all day?" Travis answered as he held out the bag of items. "Let's move." He whispered while giving the ridicules hand motion that you typically see in movies.
We exited the cabin as stealthily as possible and crossed the camp to our destination. We made it there in good time and only had a minor incident where I almost shouted after stubbing my toe. As we approached the targeted cabin Travis and I gave each other a quick glance. We both gave huge smiles and began to head closer to the cabin.
Our first challenge was to make our way to the entrance. The campers had it well protected with barbed wire and other random torture devises. "Typical Ares cabin." I whispered to Travis as I mo
tioned for him to hand me the wire cutters out of the bag. After cutting through the defenses on the outside of the cabin we made our way to the window, because all good thieves know you never use the front door.
"You ready?" I asked Travis.
"I was born ready." He said. I couldn't help to think how cheesy he sounded, but this was big. We were going to get the Ares cabin good. Well, maybe not the whole cabin, but Clarisse, she was going down.
I reached for the window and began to open it as carefully as possible. I slowly climbed through the window and motioned for my brother to do the same. As we looked about the cabin we spotted Clarisse's bunk, and slowly made our way towards it while trying to dodge the random weapons the Ares kids had strewn about the floor.
"Whip cream me." I whispered to Travis. He quickly handed me the chilly bottle and positioned himself towards the door in case we needed a quick escape. We had to time this just right, because if we failed Clarisse would clobber us. I got myself in place to pull the classic prank. Whip cream in the hand, feather to face, and bam! Whip cream in face. It was genius.
"3. 2. 1. Go." I whispered to Travis. I began to squirt the whipped cream onto her hand when she began to wake.
"Crap…." I could hear Travis whisper to himself. She began to move more, and actually put her hand to her face. I could see the whipped cream running down the side of her cheek. Then she opened one eye, followed by the other.
"YOU!" She screamed.
"ABORT! ABORT! MOVE OUT" I yelled as I made my way to the door. I could hear Travis behind me, but Clarisse sound as if she was moving closer too. As I ran out of the cabin and across the camp back to the Hermes cabin I didn't hear Travis behind me anymore. I turned around to see Clarisse holding him in a headlock.
I ran as fast as I could back, but apparently Chiron heard us and had already made his way to the scene.
"What is this?" He asked. "Clarisse let Mr. Stoll go." She did and Travis fell to the ground.
"You ok?" I asked.
"Yep. Fine." He choked out.
"Worth it?"
"Completely." He smiled at me.
"Boys…" Chiron began to yell, but it didn't matter how much trouble we got in, the mission was still completed.
