A/N: Written for the Furaba Flash Bingo, 184. Hinata Sohma, and for the Drabble Prompts Challenge, #030 – at first sight.
at first sight
Hiro is the sheep and there is no tender lamb in the Zodiac, but Hinata, when he first sees her, looks just like one. Pale white like the snow that falls outside, like the fleece on a baby lamb before it becomes grey with the world's taint, like Snow White's perfect skin like her dying mother had wished it to be –
But Hinata isn't some child in a fairytale, but real. Hiro's sister, his. One he couldn't hold because of his curse, but one look at that lamb-like face made him wish he could. But he can't; even if he's lucky to have a mother like his who doesn't care at all about the curse, he'll drop his little sister if he transforms. She's too young to support herself; she'll be hurt.
He had been grateful his sister couldn't be a part of the Zodiac, that they were all already born. But he wanted to hold his sister; he wanted to hold her so badly –
He tries, with his mother holding Hinata still, so she wouldn't fall. It's barely enough; he transforms before those fleeting feelings could be caught. It wasn't until almost a year later, when his curse broke, that he could really hold her.
And when he did, he held the tender little lamb tight and cherished her soft skin.
