Katniss finally made her way into the mansion. District 13's attack gave her the perfect distraction to enter the building. She had waited for this moment since Snow was at her house before the third Quarter Quell, and her hate has only grown. As she walked through the mansion Katniss noticed there was a lack of people. Despite a battle going on Katniss was certain their would be some security lurking about. She finally caught the sound of a somebody typing. Walking through the large double doors, Katniss saw Snow on a computer.
Pulling out an arrow Katniss aimed at Snow and ordered, "Step away from the computer!"
Snow looked up with his serpent like eyes before replying,"Ah, Miss Everdeen. What a pleasent surprise. It is so nice to be able to wrap my hands around your throat before I end this war."
"The war is over, you've lost" Katniss snapped.
"No, I haven't. This house is wired to a nuclear bomb. When I am in my bunker deep underground, and district thirteen invades, the whole area explodes leaving me the only survivor in the Capital." Snow answered with a cruel smile.
"I won't let that happen!" Katniss shouted releasing her arrow.
Snow quickly lifted his desk blocking the arrow. Katniss's jaw dropped as she saw the presidents display of strenght. The dictator threw the desk across the room as Katniss roll to the left. As soon as she stopped Katniss found Snow above her, tearing the bow from Katniss's hands back handing her across the room.
"How are you so strong?" Katniss asked.
"Now Miss Everdeen, we have the technology to create all sorts of monstrosities. Strenght enhancement should be rather easy for us." Snow replied walking over to his prey.
Katniss pulled out an arrow and lunged at Snow who struck with a forward kick knocking his adversary into the wall.
Snow walked over clutching his hands around her throat whispering, "Now you die."
Suddenly a sharp pain struck through his right shoulder. Snow turned to see Gail drawing another arrow. Quickly Snow threw Katniss at Gail. Gail dropped his bow to catch Katniss. The force of the throw knocked Gail to the ground sliding him across the floor. Both sat up Katniss rubbing her throat as Gail breathed deep from the hit. Soon Snow was on top of them back handing Katniss before grabbing Gail by the throat. Katniss sat up watching her friend slowly having the life choked out of him.
The young woman attempted to stand as Snow countered, "Move and I snap his neck."
Katniss remained still afraid for Gail's life. She saw Gail's skin turn pale as the blood drained from his face. Suddenly Peeta threw his arms over Snow, grinding his knees into his back, choking him with the handcuffs. Snow dropped Gail, who was coughing heavily, struggled to get free broke the chains. After Peeta landed Snow kicked the baker across the face be stepping on his chest. "I should have killed you the day I found you in the arena! A mistake I plan on correcting." Snow shouted in rage.
Suddenly a sharp pain surged through Snow's lower spine. Out of the corner of his eye the president saw Kaniss.
"The Hunger Games are over." The archer said with venom in her voice.
Snow fell to the ground his legs paralyzed, as Katniss turned to the men. "We have to get out of here!"
Peeta looked at the end of the arrow realizing Snow was stabbed with an explosive arrow. The baker turned to Gail noticing how slowly he was moving. Katniss and Peeta rushed over to Gail carrying him out of the room just before the explosion.
Katniss turned to look at the room breathing a sigh of relief that half the battle was over. Now she had to deal with Coin before she could truly feel safe.
Authors Note: I know big fights are a cliche, but I felt Snow's death was cheap. From his meeting with Katniss, Snow appeared to have traits similiar to Doctor Doom an Lex Luthor. That kind of master planning doesn't give up as easily as Snow did.
