Chapter One
I smiled and waved goodbye to my grandmother before boarding the Hogwarts Express. With Trevor in one hand and my trunk in the other, I slowly walked past compartments filled with excited students until I came to an empty compartment. As I got myself settled I couldn't help but smile. Very soon, I would be on my way to Hogwarts. On my way home. Although I often got bullied at Hogwarts (mostly by Snape), my friends will always be there to give me courage. My day dream was interrupted when I heard the door slide open behind me. I turned around to see the youngest Weasley standing in the doorway. "Sorry, Neville" Ginny said. "There are no empty compartments left. May I sit with you?" I smiled and nodded. As she sat down across from me I noticed just how beautifully her ginger hair shone in the light.
Ginny caught me staring at her so she quickly bit her lip and looked out the window. Not wanting to make her (and myself) uncomfortable, I did the same. There was a large crowd of parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, and other family members of the Hogwarts students, which of most were waving goodbye and shouting last words. My grandmother easily stood out even though she was wearing her least overwhelming outfit she owned. As I lifted up my hand to wave goodbye the crowd seemed to move backward as the train slowly started to pull ahead out of the station, leaving me waving to the blurring (crowd of) witches and wizards.
When the train finally glided into a vast valley, both Ginny and I turned our heads back from the window. We sat there looking anywhere but at each other for a few seconds when a knock on the door (thankfully) broke the silence. "Any sweets for you two?" a plump witch with a trolley full of colorful sweets cheerfully called through the door, her voice muffled. I quickly stood up and slid the door open. "Yes," I said, pulling out a few knuts from my pocket. "I'll take… one pumpkin pasty and two chocolate frogs please." The plump witch and I exchanged the wizard money and the sweets. I sat back down and tossed Ginny a chocolate frog as I tore open my own. Ginny smiled and said "Thank you, Neville" After we finished our sweets we both felt more comfortable with each other. "So…" I said. "Did you have a nice summer?" Ginny and I got into a long conversation which varied from summer break to (somehow) herbology and hippogriffs. Before we knew it, we could see the Hogwarts castle in the distance. "I better go change." Ginny smiled as she grabbed her robes and left me alone in the compartment. This was when I realized that I loved Ginny Weasley.
