The Only Two

The sun was just setting and Alfred F. Jones, the personification of the United States of America, sat huddled into a ball in the corner of the small hotel room. He knew there was no way he'd be sleeping tonight. It was just… impossible. This room was full of them. They would poke him, talk and chatter, do anything to get the young country's attention. But really, they always had it. He just pretended not to see them. Kind of like he did with England's "friends". But still, this was oh so much different.

Sakura Honda moved through the hallway, stopping at his door. He had to have been freaking out by now. She knocked gently, "Alfred?"

The American looked up, slowly standing and walking over to the door. "…Sakura?"

"Hai."

He opened the door and pulled her in, then slammed it closed.

"Alfred, please calm down. The ghosts will not hurt you."

"Yeah but… what if they do?"

"They will not."

He sat down on the bed. "How do you know that?"

"You are not the only nation who can see them."

Alfred blinked. What? She could see them… He wasn't alone? He wasn't sure if that was a relief or not. If it would have been a different nation maybe, even one he didn't trust. But not Sakura, what if they hurt her? Wait, no, don't think like that; Sakura is a perfectly strong woman, even if her appearance doesn't show it.

"Y-you can too?"

"Hai. And you have no need to worry yourself over them. They may be able to talk with you, but none of the ghosts here have any interest in harming you. If they did, they couldn't; you are a nation, not just a human."

Well that was true. Even if they did want to hurt—or kill—him, they wouldn't be able to. He was a nation. Unless whatever they did was deep enough, he would heal without scars. Very quickly, at that.

She hesitantly sat down beside him. Alfred didn't really think, but he hugged her. She tensed for a moment before ever so slowly hugging back. "Could we play some video games?" he asked softly, not letting go of her.

"I do not see a reason that we can't. But you will have to let go of me if you want me to go get them from my hotel room."

He did let go of her, but grabbed her hand. "I'm going with you."

"Are you still afraid—?"

"No, but… just in case. For both of us. I'm the hero, right?" He grinned.

"O-oh, hai, of course…"

"Then lead the way because I have no idea what room you're in."

The two set off to her hotel room, and though ghosts floated about in the halls and rooms, trying to attract their attention, they paid no mind to them. It was just them for now, and no one—human, nation, or ghost—could stop them from playing their video games.

And there we go! Some America and Fem!Japan. Because they are just adorable.

Now, headcanon time. Honestly, I think that only America and Japan can see ghosts. The other nations think Alfred is insane for claiming he can, and Japan really doesn't ever say anything about it.

America can see England's "friends" but can easily ignore them. The only time he can't is on Halloween.

Mm, other notes? There's not much else to say. This takes place the day before the world meeting somewhere in Japan. The name is The Only Two because they're the only two who can see the ghosts. I think that's it.

Peace. Love. Anime.
