The ground shook. The barricaded gates around Hyrule castle rocked on their hinges and a few of the children hiding in the far reaches of one of the dungeons whimpered and pressed closer to their guardian princess. Zelda looked down at them as they clutched her skirts. She glanced again at the barred door, a last ditch attempt to keep the invaders from finding them, although Zelda would be able to hold them off if they did. Beyond that door was Link, and with his name came another twinge of worry. Oh Link, please stay safe… The princess looked down as a little girl tugged on her white skirts. The eyes in the young face were filled with fear. Zelda seated herself and gathered the children closer to her, drawing the littlest into her lap.

"Would you like to hear a story?" She whispered, hoping to take their minds off their surroundings. A half-dozen little heads bobbed. Zelda was suddenly at a loss. What story could she possibly tell that would be enough to distract them from the fact that they were hiding in their own dungeon. He mind once again strayed back to Link, and suddenly she knew what to say.

"Alright then. A long time ago in a very far away place there lived a little princess and a young boy who were destined to save their land…"

A/N: This story has been hiding in my notebook for ages. I wrote it a very long time ago, and it needed a good bit of rewriting. I probably wrote it… oh… No more than 6 or 7 months ago, and I think I've already gotten better at writing. At any rate, just a tiny little oneshot because I love Ocarina of Time (haven't finished it yet.) Also, sorry for the long absence... I'm back now. :) More stories in a day or two.

Thanks for reading!!
