He knew that their "relationship" wouldn't last long.
He knew it would end badly and they would never be friends again.
He knew that if that happened they'd have to pretend in front of others.
He knew that when not in public she'd slap him full on with nasty looks and words.
He knew he'd try his best to keep a smirk on his face and an I-don't-give-a-fck attitude.
He knew all this and yet he had hoped it wasn't true.
He hoped that she would forgive him.
He hoped she wouldn't go back to what she had before him.
That some how she would see He was much better.
That he was what she needed.
He hoped that they could live happily ever after;.
Ha,
Right,
Happily Ever After,
Like that even exists.
He hoped for all of this and yet he lost.
He lost her.
He lost the one person that could change him, make him a someone better.
He lost his best friend.
The one person that actually needed him for guidance and direction.
He lost,
And now he was useless.
No, maybe even less then useless.
He lost and that had made him realize that he never had won before.
Not really.
Yeah, sure he'd won poker games and bets.
But,
Not,
Dare he say it,
Love.
Not like that was a thing you could win.
It was a thing you had to earn or at least thats what his mother said.
She'd tell him it was a lot like money,
Love.
You could run out.
You could owe it someone.
You could give it somebody.
It could make you do crazy things.
But, most of all it would always no matter where or when make you happy.
See, thats where she was wrong.
When somebody won't take your money you shrug and say hey more for me.
But, when somebody won't take your love, then,
Then your heart breaks.
Because,
The heavy weight that was thrust on it when they threw that love right back
just happened to be the exact weight that causes delicate things like your heart to
shatter.
Of course he'd never admit to himself,
or any one else for that matter,
that he was... "heart broken".
But, he was.
If you knew him at all,
He wouldn't have to say a thing.
You would know by the look on his face and dark circles around his chocolate brown eyes.
That Chuck Bass had Known,
He had Hoped,
And,
For the first time in his life,
He had Lost
