Roxas woke suddenly from an excellent dream he'd been having about him owning an infinite supply of sea salt ice cream. He rolled over onto his back so he wasn't on his arm any more, then supported himself on his elbows so he could look around in the darkness of his room.
What had woken him? The thick, green drapes weren't letting in any light from the Kingdom Hearts 'moon'. The doors to the hall and his bathroom were shut.... his closet door was open! He scratched his head, How had that happened? He was sure he had shut it all the way before he went to bed, due to an unexplainable fear that something lurked in there, waiting for a chance to escape at night. He flopped back down onto his pillows and curled up, not wanting to leave the warmth of his feather mattress.
Creak. What was that?! Roxas sat bolt upright, but saw nothing besides the fact that the closet door had opened a little wider. His breathing became faster.
"Calm down, Roxas," he scolded himself, "it's only your imagination." He pulled the covers over his head, then began to take deep, slow breaths. He soon became sleepy and as his eyelids shut something large and heavy leapt onto him.
"Augh!" He screamed, and a keyblade appeared in his hand. He fought to disentangle himself from his heavy quilt and, once free, slid smoothly into a fighting stance.
"Hahaha! Your face!" Axel's laughter greeted him.
"You-" the blonde snarled, jumping at the pyro who was laughing himself silly on the floor. His eyes widened when he saw Roxas leap at him and he rolled out of the way to avoid a blow from the younger Nobody's weapon.
"Missed me, missed me, now you gotta-" the redhead swooped down on Roxas, grabbed his face in his hands, and planted a kiss on the younger Nobody's lips. Roxas relaxed in his grip and the keyblade disappeared. Axel released him from the kiss and Roxas slumped to the floor.
"Feel better?" he asked Roxas, grinning like the psychotic maniac he was. Roxas simply nodded.
"Did you come in here at..." he checked the clock, "one in the morning just to scare me?" The pyro shook his head.
"I thought not, what do you want?" the blonde asked, getting up from his position on the floor.
"I was bored..." the redhead trailed off.
"And?" Roxas knew more was coming.
"And I wanted to see you." Axel dodged the question less than skillfully.
"Uh-huh. Well," Roxas drew out the word 'well', "you've seen me, time to go." He knew Axel wanted something so he pretended to shoo him out of the room.
"Okay, okay," Axel said, blushing slightly, "I, um, wanted to stay with you tonight." Ah, so that was it. Why not? Roxas thought, the others already suspect.
"Okay, but-" he let it hang in the air a moment before continuing,"you have to leave before everyone wakes up; we don't want their suspicions confirmed." Axel's face lit up and he bounded back across the room and pounced on Roxas' pillows. Roxas shook his head, sometimes he wondered who was older: him, or the pyro-who was hugging his Roxas plushie so hard its head bulged.
As he resettled himself on the mattress, Axel's arm snaked over his waist and pulled him close.
"Roxas?" Axel whispered in his ear.
"Yes?"
"I know we can't feel, but...."
"I know, Axel, I love you too." Roxas rolled over,"But now it's time to go to sleep." That said, Roxas burrowed into his pillows and fell asleep.
