"This year is going to be okay," Hiccup reassured himself as he brushed his teeth. Hiccup was home alone again. His dad was off at work and his mom died in a car accident that injured Hiccup's leg. The leg had to be amputated. Hiccup was a scrawny 14 year old 8th grader that went to Berk Middle School. After getting dressed and saying goodbye to Toothless, his black cat with a prosthetic left hind leg, he started walking to school. As he walked to his locker, he was tripped by Snotlout, the bully who thought he was better than everyone else. Hiccup picked up his belongings and walked away as Snotlout and his gang snickered at him. Hiccup looked over his schedule one last time:
