I hardly knew what I was doing. All I was aware of was that I couldn't stop. I couldn't hold myself back nor try and change direction. I could only keep going.
My paws on the edge of the bank, the black water rising up to meet me. My claws finding no purchase on the mud-smoothed banks. My yowl of surprise as I tumbled towards my death. I couldn't stop.
My eyes opening to a blaze of cold reality. My desperate lungs clutching painfully at each frantic breath. My mouth opening to respond to her snapped remark. I couldn't hold myself back.
My head flicking back over my shoulder to ensure my privacy. My mouth opening to taste the air for a scent of any other cats. My legs carrying me irrevocably towards my destination. I couldn't try and change direction.
Now my head looks up, my eyes spotting her in an instant. I give a cry of delight and bound forwards – nothing can get me to her fast enough. I reach her and am overcome with joy at her very presence: my head rubs against her flank, my tail twines with hers, my tongue rasps over her cheek in the familiar, ached-for gestures repeated every time we meet. She smiles and leans over to whisper in my ear. We both purr with laughter and her eyes shine at my proximity, my company, my very scent. As mine do with hers.
Now we couple, our bodies sliding together as though designed for each other. I run a tongue along her body and she sighs and stretches, revelling in the sensation. She whimpers as I enter her, both our bodies aching for this moment, this longed-for moment of unity and singularity. This moment when we are one together. My thrusts into her body elicit moans of desire as she tightens around me, and now our voices are one, both crying out together as our pleasure carries us away. I can feel the product of our love rushing into her, and she bites back a yowl of delight as she receives it. Now I curl around her, our bodies as close as can be, and hold her until she stops trembling.
I knew what I was doing. I knew I couldn't stop. I couldn't hold myself back nor try and change direction. I could only keep going.
