Axel couldn't
sleep. Usually he went to Roxas when a case of insomnia struck, but
Roxas was on a mission and Axel could hardly follow him and risk
ruining the mission. Xemnas would kill him if he did. So instead,
Axel lay still, staring at the ceiling light and willing himself to
fall asleep for over an hour before he gave up on it.
There was a
light, tentative knock on the door.
"Who is it?" Axel
asked, not bothering himself to move. "It's me, Roxas,"
Axel sat upright suddenly and kicked the blankets off his legs. He
somehow got one of his feet tangled in his sheet and stumbled when he
leaped out of bed.
"Coming!" Axel said, then
growled,"Gerroff me, you stupid-"he shook his foot
violently to try and free himself from the stubborn bedcover still
wrapped around his ankle. It fell off and Axel flung the door open to
welcome the other Nobody.
" I thought you were on a
mission,"Axel told the blonde as he stepped inside Axel's
semi-neat room.
"I got back a couple of hours ago, but I
couldn't sleep," Roxas replied. Axel noticed he was wearing his
red boxers with the keyblades.
"How'd the mission go?"
Axel asked, shutting the door quietly after checking the hallway to
see if anyone was around.
"Really well, Ursula was only too
happy to help Xemnas with his plots." Roxas flopped down on
Axel's bed, "What'd you do, get in a fight with your covers?"he
glanced meaningfully at the sheet from whose clutches Axel had had to
free his ankle from.
"No," the man retorted,"and I
didn't let you in so you could criticize my bed-making skills,
either." He threw the sheet over the teen like a fishing net
then leaped onto the bed and began tickling the flailing lump
underneath.
"Augh! Mercy! Uncle!" Roxas yelled,"I
give! I give!" Axel gave him a few last tickles and pulled the
sheet off Roxas, who was redfaced and breathing heavily from
laughing. He giggled to get it out of his system and said, "I
really didn't expect you to be awake, you know. I just wanted to
check on you." I must sound like such a baby, he thought
to himself.
"I couldn't sleep either, if it makes you feel
any better." Axel reassured him, wrapping an arm around the
younger Nobody's shoulders.
Normally, Roxas would have shied away
from such an intimate touch, but he was exhausted from his mission,
and he leaned his head on the red-head's bare chest, eyes fluttering
closed. Axel held the teen to his chest and lay down on his pillows
slowly so he didn't wake him. Then he too fell asleep, the insomnia
scared away by Roxas' company.
