Prologue
"Love fades, mine has…."
I couldn't hear anything else. Not the priest's monotonous voice preaching to th ecrowd of stuck-up Royals, or my heart beat. No, scratch that, my heart isn't beating. It has just been ripped out of my chest by the one man I trusted with it, the one I went half way across the world for.
My eyes started to fill with tears from the pain in my chest. I refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing me cry. I gathered up the last shreds of my dignity and turned, running out of the church, ignoring the scandalized looks from the Moroi. I sprint up to my room, pack a bag, and wrote letters for Lissa, Christian, Adrian, Eddie, and my Mother. I picked up my phone and called the one person I knew whom would help me, no questions asked.
They answered on the first ring. "Kit, what's wrong?"
"Abe, I need to get out of here. Can you pick me up, or at least send someone to do so? Please?" I was practically begging him.
He knew that even though we have only known each other for a month, that me begging for something wasn't a good thing. "Be at the gates in ten minutes." was all that was said before he ended the call.
And that was how I, Rosemarie Hathaway, started on the road to a new life, where hopefully, I would eventually be happier.
