Me

What is in your mind?

Do you hear what I think?

Are we both just blind?

x

Need to find the missing link

Want to feel what isn't there

Let the sorrow start to sink

Pretend I don't really care

x

Spinning off the table top

Falling through the mist

Lost control without a stop

Forgotten goals on a list

x

Are you in there?

Cold the touch

Frozen fire

Not too much

x

Move the rhythm

Shy the beats

Light pours down

In silver sheets

x

Hug the rainbow

Wish for the star

Leave yourself

Can't get too far

...It's who you are

... ...Who are you?

x

Does this make sense?

What reason why?

All I want to do

Is try for a high

x

A high of self-esteem

A high of belief

A high of feeling

Followed by relief

x

Flowing through

A valley's grass

Vibrant colours

Seem to clash

...Don't want to crash

... ...In the sudden flash

x

I see the place

Where I can rest

I feel cool crystals

Calm my face

...Here in this place

... ...There's no disgrace

x

I falter, stumble

Out of comfort

My shaken breaths

Express no lies

x

I'm in denile

Try to hide

What gives away

My true inside

x

The tears that stain

My face are there

For me to bear

x

You have to share

Because you know

I need to know

You care

x

What does it matter?

Why ask me why?

Don't leave me hanging

You know myself

...Must I know me too?

... ...To be true to you

...Would you be true to me?

x

I'm lost right now

I'm losing more

I've even lost

The reason for

x

Help me through

This troubled time

Space and time

...Without a trace of existence

... ...What exists in love?

x

I can taste

The melody soaring

I know I can

Join in thought pouring

x

Details of whose life I live

Gaining friendship

While I give

x

This life is mine

And it will shine

When I release

My torment.

Author's Notes: I actually wrote this quite a while ago (September 25th, 2002), as a random "thought poem", or free flow. At some point while I was writing it, I thought of Helga, and the direction of the poem changed, or rather, I had a focus to follow instead of the randomness that it had started as. I decided to post the poem over at fictionpress (under my name Lunar Eclipse1) in a story that I had been writing (but have since removed). Later, I felt that the poem deserved a place here at fanfiction net because of the Helga influence and existence in the poem. It took me a while to find the poem again, from my large pile of papers in my closet (the computer I had first written it on was fried), but I found it, and now it's here. Oh, and the "x" 's and ellipses (...) are there for aesthetic spacing purposes. And I don't own Hey Arnold, as you all very well know…
