So here is the new twilight fanfic I'm working on. I'm testing the waters with an OC character here and I'm not sure how it'll go, but we'll just have to see, right? Since it's in progress and not nearly finished like with Queen of the Volturi (rewrite), I will try at least one update a week and hopefully I'll be able to do more, but it depends on my life outside of writing of course.

I am also making you aware that the OC is not supposed to reflect me or be me. Just that an opinion around Edward, Bella and Jacob in chap2 that I have more or less come to realize about them after reading the books several times that I'll use.

I hope you as a reader will enjoy this story. R&R!

Enjoy! :)

Chapter 1:

3rd person POV

Emmett, Jasper and Edward were out hunting when Edward went for Emmett's kill. Making the three vampires get to a stop. Emmett was growling as he did not like it one bit that Edward had taken the bear he was about to pounce on. After all the mind reader knew very well that bears was his favorite meal. It did not help that Edward had recently returned from Denali.

With a smirk, Edward pulled away from the bear, satisfied, but just to be attacked by an angry vampire.

Jasper stood watching at the sidelines with his head tilted, waiting for his brothers to get it together. When Emmett came a bit too close he took a step back and stumbled backwards, unusual for a vampire. The shock made him fall and when he looked to see what he had fallen over, he was met with a surprise.

"Guys!" he called. Gaining his brothers attention.

He got up and stared down at the naked human that had curled herself. She was still warm, not yet affected by the cold. What was even stranger was that he could not get a read of her emotions.

"What the hell?" Emmett exclaimed and came over.

"How strange, none of us noticed her before Jasper fell over her," Edward pointed out.

"We need to get her warm or she might die," Emmett said and picked her up.

"You do know that Rosalie will get pissed?" Jasper wondered.

"Our hunt is over anyway," Emmett grumbled, glaring at Edward.

"Strange, she do not smell edible," Edward muttered.

"That's a first," Jasper mumbled and silently agreeing. Her blood did not tempt at all.

The three ran home as fast as they could and shouted Carlisle's name at once when inside.

"What is going on?" Carlisle wondered as he rushed down the stairs. However, his thoughts quickly realized what the matter was.

In Emmett's arms laid a human woman. Her hair was long and scarlet, falling to the floor as the vampires stood still. She was pale, but not in a sickly way. Also she seemed to be sleeping and not uncomfortable at all.

"Bring her up to one of the guest rooms," Carlisle instructed as he hurriedly went into his office to get some tools.

Emmett did as Carlisle said and laid her in a room close to Edward, under the sheets.

"Take her right arm out," Carlisle instructed as he pulled out a needle. Then he drew blood, and it did not seem to affect any of the vampires in the room.

"What is this?" Esme wondered as she stood looking in at her sons and her husband. Flanked by Alice and Rose.

"We found her in the woods after hunting," Jasper explained.

"I did not see her," Alice said and frowned. "She is all but a fog."

"Is she a threat?" Rose wondered, however she did feel concern for the girl. She had been naked, alone and in the woods after all.

After checking her, Carlisle stood up and gave the tube with the red liquid to Edward. Will you check it, son? he asked through his mind. Edward nodded in return and disappeared. "So strange, she seems healthy, but it is difficult to tell," he then informed his family.

"Shall we let her rest then?" Esme wondered.

"Yes, when she awakes we can ask her."

"Then I will prepare some food for her." Esme retreated and hurried down to her kitchen she could finally use.

"She will need clothes," Alice said happily and dragged Jasper out after her.

"I will find her a bathrobe until she get clothes of her own then," Rosalie stated and took off.

Emmett took one more look at the human then he followed his mate.

Edward was shocked. The blood was not normal. It was human, but it had traits of venom inside of it even if she was not a changed human or going under the change. The venom was frozen in her blood and the reason was beyond knowing.

I wonder how this is possible. So fascinating, Carlisle thought.

It did not take long before the human started to stir, despite this it was no sign of her waking up as she turned a bit.

Athena woke up with a quiet groan. She felt strange as she did not feel her teddy bear, Ice, beside her, neither her soft satin sheets. It felt like normal cotton and her eyes shot open.

To say the least she had not expected to not wake up in her room. However, this room was not hers. Sure, she was naked; it was how she preferred to sleep. But how had someone moved her in her sleep without her noticing? And naked at that! The bed she was in was big. The door was open and light streamed in. Making her see the light blue walls. There was a TV right on the wall in front of the bed. One wall was made of glass and she could faintly see the outline of trees outside them. Her eyes blinked again.

Where the hell am I? she thought sourly and sat up. Her feet met with the cold floor and she stared right at a door. Curious she crept closer and opened it, just to find a very large bathroom. She tiptoed inside and made her way over to the mirror.

Her eyes widened as she noticed dirt on her right side, all the way from her cheek and head down to her feet. Without thinking, she grabbed the towel by the sink, wetted it a bit and then removed the dirt. She used the toilet, thinking 'why not' as she had not brought herself there.

Exiting the bathroom she felt confused as she found a robe by the end of the bed. Hurriedly she put it on and exited the room. The house looked to be large, but for now she simply had no clue.

Quietly she made her way down the stairs, not thinking of the little clothing she was wearing as she made her way. Faintly wondering if she had been partying before she went to bed. However, she was pretty sure she had not, considering she never liked to party and her work usually kept her busy.

Voices could be faintly heard as she neared what she guessed would be the kitchen one floor down. She let her eyes peek first around the corner and stumbled back at what she saw.

She was going crazy, that had to be the answer! She could swear she had seen two golden eyed, pale people, most likely vampires, or trying to look like vamps. One male quite large and a blonde by his side who looked too beautiful to be true. A woman stood with her back towards her with caramel hair and accompanied by a blonde male.

"Ouch!" she muttered as she hit something hard. She turned and gaped. "No way! I don't believe it," she mumbled, mainly to herself. Someone that fit the description of Edward Cullen stood right in front of her! Though much more handsome than Robert Pattinson (no offense to him).

He kept staring at her and she took one step back, not noticing that several vampires had joined them in the hallway.

"Edward, is something the matter?" a soft voice spoke, and Athena could only guess it was Esme.

"It seems our mystery guest is awake," he said smoothly, staring right at her and her mouth fell open again.

Come on, brain! Work your magic! Start working! However, it did not help Athena to tell herself what to do and she turned to look away just to meet with the whole Cullen family or at least so she could guess. "Is this a prank?" she then blurted, sure that it had to be.

"What?" Rosalie hissed and glared.

"No way that you can be real. This must be a prank! I knew it! I cannot go mental now!" Athena rambled on and took a hand to her head.

"I can assure you that this is not a prank," Carlisle said concerned.

The tone of voice made Athena look up and meet his golden eyes. Her purple eyes widened and she turned on her heels. Walking as fast as she could up and towards the room she had been in.

"If I go to sleep now I'll wake up home," she told herself quietly, not thinking that the seven vampires could hear her.

"I do not believe so. My sons found you in the woods," Carlisle said as he was easily keeping up with her.

She stopped. "W-what?" That explains the dirt.

"We were wondering if you could tell us what happened," Carlisle said calm.

"I can say one thing, Carlisle. I have no clue!"

Carlisle's eyes widened, she knew his name.

Uh-oh, I just said his name without thinking!

"How do you now my name?" he asked and frowned, his family gathering close, curious.

Athena laughed a bit nervous. "Ha. Ha…Ha? You know...it will be hard to believe," she said, voice uncertain.

"What is in her thoughts?" Rosalie whispered to Edward.

His face was masked with a frown. Yet another case where he could not read a person's mind. However, Alice and Jasper had the same problem with their gifts when it came to this human.

"My name is Athena. I am twenty years old. I was born with photographic memory and finished my second degree at university when I was fifteen," Athena said and scratched the back of her head nervously. "…and it seems I am in the wrong universe." She added the last part quietly and she could feel the temperature lower around her.

"What do you mean by that, Athena?" Carlisle wondered.

Athena looked down, finding a spot on the stair she was standing on very interesting. "I never thought I would end up in a book. Well a fictional world to be honest. In my world, you are all but characters from a book series. They even made movies," she explained.

"We're book characters?" Rosalie hissed, not wanting to believe it.

"Yes, in my world. However, you are very much alive right now and I'm obviously not dreaming. Nevertheless, I have no clue how I got here. One moment I was asleep in my own bed, the next I wake up here." She breathed out and looked up. All vampires staring at her with shock.

"Fascinating," Carlisle breathed.

"Oh, poor thing," Esme gasped and came forward to hug Athena who stiffened. She was not very used to human affection.

"You alright?" Emmett asked, concerned.

"Not used to this sort of contact," she said and pointed to Esme who was still holding around her.

"You surely do have a family, back home I mean," Jasper said calm.

"Actually, I don't. Well, I do have a mother, though she has been in a mental hospital for as long as I can remember." Athena shrugged.

"Why were you naked?" Rosalie asked, concerned as well.

"Erhm…that's funny. You see, I like to sleep naked. It gives me a sense of freedom," Athena admitted and blushed gaining quiet laughter.

"Well, I think you should rest a bit, and we shall see what tomorrow brings. Edward needs to go back to school as well," Carlisle said and led Athena forward.

"What exactly has happened so far?" Athena asked curiously.

"The Chief's daughter Bella Swan recently moved her. And her blood affected Edward quite badly. Caused him to flee," Rosalie explained, and a bit sour at the end there.

"Oh, then we're early into the book," Athena answered quietly, mainly to herself.

"Athena?" Edward's voice made her freeze as she once again turned to meet his eyes. She knew for a fact that she would not let any of these vampires boss her around, especially not Edward. His voice was so soft and inviting thought that she simply couldn't not listen to him.

"Yes?" she asked.

"If necessary, would you mind enrolling into school with us and keep close to me?" he asked.

"W-why?" Athena stuttered.

"Your blood and presence have no effect on us. It makes it easier to be around humans," Jasper explained.

"How do you know that?" Athena asked curiously.

"We tested your blood." A simple answer.

"Oh." And a simple response.

Athena stepped inside her given room and frowned at the sheets inside. But she felt that she could not exactly demand new sheets from the Cullens. They were nice enough to save her and let her stay here. The frown did not go unnoticed by Esme who was one to follow her in.

"Is it not to your liking?" she asked carefully.

"Oh, of course it is! It's just that I'm used to satin. Not to sound snobby or ungrateful or anything, just stating a fact." Athena rushed the words out just to cover her mouth in surprise. She was not used to have outbursts like these either.

"Let me," Esme said softly. In a minute she disappeared, then all Athena could see was that something was happening to the bed, then when Esme stood beside her again, the sheets had been changed. "Satin. I hope it will feel better," Esme said softly.

Athena gaped. "Th-thank you."

"It was my pleasure," Esme said happily and gave her a quick hug, then she exited the room and disappeared.

"They do realize I have to go through school again, right?" she mumbled to herself as she undressed by the bed. Lifting the duvet, she smiled softly as the soft sheets covered her and easily warmed up. A faint breeze and she was aware of another presence. "Who is it?" she grumbled.

"It's Edward."

"What are you doing here?" she asked a bit annoyed. Not ready to be stalked.

"We all heard what you said earlier. At least it will make it easier for you to stay here if you join us at school," he pointed out.

"Can I sleep now?"

Edward raised a brow to her annoyed tone. She did not seem interested towards any of the vampires in the household, not even him, and it certainly made a difference. Curious of this human he made himself comfortable in a chair that was by the glass wall.

"You may not watch me sleep," she hissed, glaring his way. "It's privacy and if you cannot respect that I will find a lighter and make you burn," she threatened.

Booming laughter filled the house and she could only guess whom it belonged to. Soon Carlisle came and made Edward leave, saying he needed his help. However, Athena had the feeling that he literally saved her.

Indeed it would be a very long night. She was not sure if she would be able to sleep at all even though her eyes felt heavy. Then after staring out at nothing for a long time she felt her eyes drop and she fell into a dreamless sleep.
