The Perfect Gift

SG1 had been given two weeks' leave because of the enormous stress they had endured on their last mission on the Odyssey. They had experienced a time-altering event which had to be reversed in order for them to survive. Carter supposedly figured out the solution, but only Teal'c was left with the memories of the team's experience aboard the spaceship while stranded in the time-dilation field.

Shortly after the mission, he dropped by Sam's house and suggested that she do something quite different during their downtime. He asked if she liked classical music. When she looked confused but answered "yes", he took a small envelope from his pocket and pressed it into her hand.

"Colonel Carter, it would give me great pleasure if you would treat yourself and a guest to this concert. I regret that I cannot attend but Ry'ac and his bride are about to become parents and I am needed there."

With that, he turned and left as quickly as he had come before giving Sam the opportunity to respond. She stood in her doorway for several minutes completely baffled by the Jaffa's unexpected visit. Then she walked inside and sat down on the sofa to open her gift.

She let out a delighted yelp of surprise as she read the ornate script on the two gilt-edged tickets:

How could Teal'c ever possibly know of her secret love of the cello? She never remembered talking about it to anyone at SGC.

Sam sat and stared at the tickets and the location for a long time, a smile forming on her lips.

By next morning she was on her way to the airport, gift envelope safely tucked into her carry-on bag along with a sexy black cocktail dress.

She wondered if Jack owned a tux ….
