Tsutomu remembered Mr. Gomez telling him that he could not protect Chigira, how he defeated Birdy with a single arm. How Birdy already had her hands full protecting Senkawa and his family.

"Chigira… Is Chigira alright?"

"Don't worry… As long as I'm there, everything will be fine for him. Oh, and pass that to the Investigator that she should take a look at this, when she gets the time."

As he said those last words, the man gave Tsutomu a small flash drive, before driving away.

He still wondered just what was on that Flash Drive. Tsutomu had a feeling that it was important.

/Birdy, I think that maybe we should visit an internet café, and check it, before going home./

"Why not get home first? Maybe eat before, I'm hungry."

/I think that we should open it on a separate computer, in case there is a virus or something, and it might be time sensitive. What if it's something important?/

"Fine…" she grumbled, and changed directions.

As neither cared much for such establishment, Birdy decided to go to the familiar public library instead. With the curfew due to the appearance of 'Monsters', it would likely be closed by now.

The library was closed and empty. It was easy for birdy to sneak in.

"Well, do your thing." The investigator muttered to the boy in her, before switching into his form and giving him control.

'As usual, you leave me to do the thinking and computer search. And you are the Elian from advanced civilization.'

Though he knew better than to voice these thoughts.

"Well, seems fine so far."

"Birdy, is it just me, or does this Word Document is written in an alien language?"

"…"

"Birdy?"

/This, this is the standard Federation language. Let me read it./

Without another word Tsutomu felt himself change, and losing control.

"This… this has to be wrong. There must have been some kind of a mistake here."

/What? What's wrong, Birdy? What does it say?/

"Tsutomu! When did you get back?!"

"Just now." He replied to his sister.

"I haven't had anything to eat yet. Is there any dinner left?" he apologetically smiled while asking.

"If you're not against leftovers, I can worm something up.

" Why were you out so late without having something to eat? There's a monster running free, I want you to come home earlier!"

As the boy proceeded later to his room, he had another surprise.

While the news about the sunken hospital as a potential clue for that plant, Birdy seemed to have been in the wrong mood, ever since reading whatever it was, that Mr. Gomez wanted him to pass to her. She did not comment on anything, even once.

Than his sister came to burrow a CD player. Something about a new part time job, something that sounded too shady for his tastes.

It was after her leaving, that the mouse sergeant dropped for a visit. Literaly.

"Is there something new?"

"No, Tsutomu Senkawa, I wanted to ask you about what the man, Gomez, wanted you to give to Birdy."

"What of it?"

"We did not get a good look, what was it, and what was his intent? Did you examine the item in question?"

"It was a small note, with strange signs, maybe writing, on it. Birdy said it was gibberish, something to distract her, and threw it away."

"Are you certain, Tsutomu Senkawa? It may be important!"

"Yes, I am. Sorry."

The mouse left.

/Why did you lie to him?/ Birdy echoed in his mind.

Taking a look around, and making sure no mice or robots were within earshot, he responded quietly.

"Whatever was written there, it upset you, badly. If it was something important to the investigation I trust that you would have told it already. I… Sorry, Birdy, if this lie gets you in trouble you could say that I did it. I trust you Birdy, Just… tell me if something wrong, OK?"

"It's coming in for real?"

"Yes. The other observatories confirming it."

"I'm in the process of calculating the trajectory."

"If it continues on its current trajectory it will come close to earth."

"Why didn't we see it before yesterday?"

"Two days ago, it wasn't there. It appeared all of a sudden, in orbit around mars."

"What…"

Author Notes: I wanted to write a fic for one of the tiny fandoms i enjoy, inspired to do so after reading Vathara's newest fic about the Ubell Blatt fandom (has 12 regular fics+1 crossover fic) the fic was great. having been interested in the "Birdy the Mighty" Fandom as well, for some time, and with it not much bigger, i sought to contribute myself. this is the first inspiration i got, after looking for ideas.

This is the manga continuity (birdy the mighty ii) so they search Spirits (super soldier serum) and not Ryunka superweapon. Though i will be adding and introducing some stuff from the anime.
