"So Jude, what's it like being back in this old studio?" Tommy asked casually as he lifted his legs onto the control panel in front of the glass window where Jude had stood so long ago. It was the first day back at G-Major since her tour, and as much as Tommy could tell she missed being on the road, where no rules applied, she still had her eyes shining wildly with excitement, just sitting in this studio made her heart beat faster than it had during the whole tour."It feels like home." Was Jude's soft reply. She stood up and grabbed her guitar, which had been leaning against a table, and started strumming it, humming gently to the rhythmic beat that soon filled the air.
Tommy's eyes closed, he had missed being near Jude so badly, it had almost killed him. He had kept almost no contact with her over her tour, a few postcards here and there, an email once in awhile, and maybe once a phone called was issued, which was involved with a lot of "Ums" and "So…s". No, this was back to the real thing, the Jude and Tommy connection being fired back up, an unbeatable team, the way it was before. Except…
Except how was this supposed to be like before, when Tommy was sort of… "involved" with Jude's only sister? How were things supposed to become normal again when Tommy felt he had grown older, when Jude was still the bright eyed sixteen year old that he had left? How were things supposed to go back when Tommy himself didn't know how to handle anything yet?
He
opened his eyes slowly, angry that he had to return to the real
world, where emotions were kept inside and out, and a gorgeous girl
sat right in front of him, but he could do nothing about it.
"You
have a new song yet?" Tommy asked gingerly, not really knowing what
to say.
Jude
either ignored, or didn't realize the awkwardness that sat between
them and answered, "Not really. Writing on the road isn't too
easy when you've got Speed looking over you shoulder ever two
seconds." When she mentioned Speiderman her face seemed to lighten
up a little more and a small smile came onto her face, as she looked
down at her guitar, her eyes looking like she was dreaming.
Tommy
noticed this, but forced himself to move on to the topic, "Yeah,
that is hard." He agreed with a small laugh, and then, more
seriously this time, a few moments later, his voice tender added,
"You know Jude, I really missed you."
Jude,
who had been fingering her guitar, now looked up at him, her eyes
soft, but confused. Finally they cleared into pure happiness as she
replied, "I really missed you too Tommy. More than you know."
Tommy
cleared his throat, smiled and finally, with a deep breath said, "You
know Jude, I was thinking, if you didn't have any plans on
Saturday-"
But
he never got to finish his sentence. Because at that moment someone
walked into the room. And Jude squealed, jumped into his arms, and
laid a kiss on him that made her world disappear, and fall into
place, if only for a second.
