Summary: Who needed that stupid look anyway! It didn't mean anything...
Notes: Written for the 7Lies livejournal community. I should be working on my art at the moment but decided to procrastinate and do this instead. I liked how this turned out although it was a bit longer than I intended. Again, I was going for the more childish side of Kadaj as that's where you see more of his own personality come through rather than his Mother's will. Anyway, comments and constructive criticism are most appreciated!

That look.

That sweet, softening gaze of love that proud parents always had around their offspring.

How he loathed it!

No matter where he went, that look was everywhere. It surrounded him, taunting him, a constant reminder of what was normal

Nii-san had it too. They were just mindless corpses at that point, it wouldn't have even registered to them! Yet, underneath the fear for them, as clear as day, there it was...

That look.

That warm, protective look that says "I will die for them!"

Nii-san had that look.

For these orphans who had been forsaken by the gods...

For these weak-minded beings Kadaj had corrupted...

Nii-san was willing to die.

Kadaj had never experienced that look.

Everywhere he went was full of hostile glances and suspicious stares but the teen was fine with that. These people were fools anyway. Of course, his family could never give him that look. Loz and Yazoo had never experienced it either, so how on earth would they know? Sephiroth... well that one didn't care about anyone, not even Mother. Kadaj wouldn't even want so much as a glance from that thing!

As for Mother...

Mother was in a lot of pain.

Betrayed by the people of this planet and sealed away, hidden from the world, it would've been selfish of him to demand that look from her.

She was suffering so much...

Nii-san could give him it but opted for an icy glare instead and Kadaj was fine with that. Who needed that stupid look anyway! It didn't mean anything...not really...it was just a look to console kids who still had their parents check under their bed for monsters every night! Well, they could just have it!

Kadaj didn't need it.

Kadaj was fine! Perfectly fine!

After all...it's not like the monsters were that big...
