"Sirius- Sirius, wait! Don't do this... really, its fine..."

"It's not fine," he snapped, tugging out of Remus's grip.

"Will you just listen to me?" shouted Remus, all emotions raging out, "There's nothing we can do! I know Sirius, because I am one of the monsters he writes about...I'm a werewolf- there's nothing we can do about it!"

Sirius remained silent, continuing to walk up the stairs to the owlery. "If you think I'm just going to stand here, and not tell off this bastard, you're mistaken."

"It's about werewolves in general... you're acting like is writing it directly to me!"

"Sod off, Remus!" Sirius replied.

On a whim- mainly trying to diffuse Sirius's rage- Remus asked to at least read the letter he had heard about so much from James. With a trace of regret, Sirius handed the double-sided letter over, and walked to the edge of the drafty building. Remus stayed behind, and began to unfold its content...

He held his breath. Sirius had actually made a crucial effort, undergone hours of studying and neglected his friends for this one letter. Somewhere amongst its brilliance was the line,

"-I love him. Does that, sir, make me a monster as well?"

Quietly, Remus folded the letter into robes and walked towards Sirius. Instead of addressing him, he roped his arms around his back, giving him a firm hug from behind. He took Sirius's hands and gripped them tight. Remus didn't think it was possible for someone to genuinely care from him that much, and considering it was completely out of Sirius's character- he couldn't remember the last time he had seen him pick up a book, let alone study it.

"My werewolf boyfriend- and damn proud of it?" recited Remus, grinning.

"Go stuff yourself," Sirius mumbled.

"Gladly," he said, rubbing Sirius's back, "Listen, Pads, what you wrote...I- I don't know what to say-"

"It was stupid of me, I know."

Remus pulled him around, "No! No, it was...brilliant. I loved it, every word. Honest."

Sirius smiled, "As much as you love John Lennon?"

Remus grinned, "Oh, there's no competition! ... No offence."

Sirius shoved him playfully, "You're a git."
