Alright, so 1st ever chapter of 1st ever fanfic (woot, woot!) so pretty please review. Thanks, darlings... Now, enjoy!

Chapter 1

The first time Travis asked her, Katie almost dropped a very young Sugar. Now, there are 2 reasons why this is important:

Numero uno: Sugar was her little baby, and if Sugar had come to harm through the heinous act of dropping, then Katie would never have been able to forgive herself. And Katie never dropped plants. (If you haven't figured out by now, Sugar is a sugarcane plant. Yes, I know, her name is very original. Props to sucky Demeter naming skills) Unlike some other people, who spent their free time murdering poor, helpless plants, (Katie Gardener never forget, Stolls, you sons of Hermes. That payback was brilliant though. You literally could not get of bed for a week...) she would much rather spend her free time killing hellhounds. (No offense Mrs. O'Leary. It's nothing personal-It's just in the genes) The fact that she almost freaking DROPPED Sugar goes to show how random and surprising and "I-can't-believe-I-heard-that" sort of shocking this particular question of Travis's was.

Number two: Sugar had been "born" (IF that word can be applied to plants) exactly a week after the Battle of the Labyrinth. Therefore, Sugar must have not been over a week old at the time. Katie would have been a week away from turning 15, and Travis would have been 16 years 2 months and 10 days old. (Not that anyone is keeping count*cough, cough* Ahem… anyway…)

But, let's get back on topic.

"Katie Gardner, will you go out with me?"

The words were on repeat in Katie's mind as she slowly turned around, blinking and gaping and just looking like a fish out of water in general. Albeit, she guessed she seemed like a cute fish out of water (how is that even possible? The poor fish would be dying) or something else equally and ridiculously cliche to Travis, but that was beside the point right now.

She somehow managed to get out an incredulous , "What?", which was impressive considering how much her brain was scrambling to catch up to what was going on.

Travis replied, "You know, go out with me, on, like, a date or something."

Katie's brain finally caught up enough for her to crack a grin and retort, "Tempting, but I'll pass."

And as Katie walked away holding a still intact (thank the gods) Sugar, she heard Connor ask, "Amy Chu, will you go out with me?" After Katie heard a shy, hesitant, "Yeah," that could only have come from Amy, she glanced back long enough to catch the telltale glint of drachmas changing hands. And at that moment, Katie knew she had been right to trust her gut when it came to the matter of Travis Stoll.
