Authors note: Ok, I suppose this could be classed as original fiction if you didn't know where the idea came from, but if I explain then maybe it will sound more LOTR style. I was on a website the other day and was looking through some ROTK snaps when I found one of Arwen before she leaves for the undying lands. Her face looked very sad and showed a lot of emotion which gave me the idea for this poem.

Now you know that I hope you like the poem and don't shout at me too much if it's nothing like anything to do with LOTR. I apologise.

Love Hurts

In this world love is the most powerful thing

Feeling protected and safe under loves wing

Everywhere we look, everywhere we go

Our love for others we can't help but show

Ever thought what it would be like not to care?

Having things you enjoyed and not being able to share

Watching people around you and not taking heed

The love in the world, it is all that we need

Yet everyone longs for a world free of pain

A world free of anguish, not staying the same

But can we have a world that is trouble free

Without getting rid of all good, love and glee.

It's the love in the world that hurts us more

Hurting our loved ones and our hearts that it tore

If we get rid of love and things our heart desires

This world would be simple, free from painful fires.

Without love in this world bringing people together

All would be carefree and painless forever

Is it love or pain causing you to adore

That special someone before closing the door?

Bringing someone special up close to you

Then taking them away before your heart can be true

"It's better to have loved and lost than never loved at all"

But is it right, building us up before a fall?

What would we want if given the option?

A pain free world or hurt and devotion?

Would we choose solitude without love or distress?

Or would we love and hurt, doing what was best?
