The pair cautiously strolled down the street, grateful that it wasn't as busy as always. Hinata focused half his attention on weaving himself and the other boy through bushes, benches, and what amount of people there was, and the other half on scanning over the medical form repetitively, making sure there really wasn't anything to worry about.
"Ahh, I'm so unlucky, aren't I, Hinata-kun?" laughed Komaeda, clearly taking this awfully lightly, considering he was the one stuck with the problem. Hinata sighed, growing annoyed at his boyfriend's carefree attitude. Even if it was temporary and with little other side effects, it isn't some common issue to face being blind for a few days.
Noticing Komaeda straying off the path, Hinata hastily nabbed at his hand, pulling him back on track. Komaeda chuckled and apologized softly, as if it was really his fault he wandered a bit.
"I suppose I'm quite lucky as well, as this lets me be with Hinata-kun until my eyes are better…" Komaeda laughed a little, keeping a stronger hold on Hinata's hand. Hinata folded the paper eventually, and stuffed it in his pocket. Komaeda noticed the sound. "You're still reading over that paper? You really shouldn't be concerned for the likes of me, you know-"
Hinata jerked suddenly on his hand, instantly preventing Komaeda from crashing into a streetlamp. Granted, it didn't require as much force as he put in, but the brunette was getting irritated by the constant self-depreciation.
after walking along for awhile, obediently following wherever he was brought, the sightless boy noticed Hinata had come to a sudden halt. He turned toward him and listened for an explanation. All he got was "Wait here."
Feeling the comforting, safekeeping hand slip away from his own, Komaeda grew worried and began to object, but his boyfriend was no longer there. The setting already seemed a bit colder, and a feeling crept upon him. That feeling was loneliness, something he was well used to, even if it wasn't as common since he had met Hinata. This time however, he refused to welcome the feeling that had been with him his whole life. Without sight, the world was cold and dark, and there was nowhere to go. He just wanted to have Hinata back here. Essentially trapped in a cage of confusion and discoordination, he had no ways of which to go. Then again, maybe he deserved being alon-
"Komaeda." The voice stopped Komaeda instantly, and he spun around to meet it. "I thought I told you not to wander off…" The voice trailed on, snaking the word's owner's hand along Komaeda's own once again. The other hand did similar, but put something in the white-haired boy's grasp. Something tall and thin. "What is this, Hinata-kun?" Komaeda inquired calmly, relaxed now that he had returned. "It's a rose, I thought you'd be able to figure that much out... can't you smell it?" Komaeda did smell it, and the flower was awfully fragrant. How unlucky he was to receive such a gift from a beacon of hope, and yet not be able to see it…
Hinata's arms were around Komaeda's waist by now. "I thought it was pretty… it reminded me of you a little." Hinata explained hesitantly. Komaeda turned back to the flower, smelling it again.
"But I can't see it, Hinata-kun…"
A source of heat was inches from Komaeda's face, and he listened carefully to the echoing breathing that came from it. The other boy looked into Komaeda's blank eyes, eyes that failed to see him smile.
Hinata didn't care if he couldn't see the beauty of a rose. He just wished that sometimes… Komaeda would see the beauty of himself, and see his own self-worth.
Hinata pulled Komaeda's arm, beckoning him to commence walking. Even if the sightless boy remained blind to his own value, he was glad he could see it exhibited by Komaeda every day himself.
