It was the perfect day. The sky was crystal azure. The breeze was warm.

Her reflection was frozen.

The terror wouldn't abandon her. Hope sprung in her heart. In moments it was withered away. The hands of death crumpled her barely beating heart.

No enemy, no training regime, no failure, no hopelessness had terrified her so.

Her reflection was still. It was clear. It was frozen in a single moment. The details were all captured to the very highest standard of perfection.

She shook. Her arms were rattling violently. Her eyes seemed to quiver at the sight. Her mouth hung agape. A tear or two dared to spill down her face.

Her reflection was dead.

It was gone beyond her reach. It abandoned her.

Her lungs burned. Her lips opened and parted slowly. Not a breath was taken.

The darkness seemed to draw nearer. It swarmed towards her. All too late she realised that she was drowning in a sea of black.

A far cry roused her. She was jolted into the present. The darkness was before her. It was too close. It was too dark.

The tears were flowing before she could stop them. She tensed in that coldest of all embraces. The truth was before her. It was undeniable.

She ignored the end of their intertwined fate.

She lied to herself.

The darkness was stained crimson.

Author's Note: Did you see what I did there? I worked really hard to make it fit with those lyrics. Don't worry if you don't appreciate that though. It wasn't hard work at all. I like to keep things vague. I hope that you can understand what happened though. I'd like to know what you think. Is this a happy story? Is this a sad story?

Thank you for reading. I do hope that you have enjoyed my work. I apologise if you have not. I will improve, I promise.

A special thanks to the band Power Station for the song. A special thanks to Xian Jiàn for introducing me to such wonderful music!
